Indiana DNR Release:
Much more than fishin’ is happening at the DNR Kids Fishin’ Pond at this year’s Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis.
A sampling for this week:
Tomorrow, 2-3 p.m., fly fishing demonstration
Sunday, 12:30-2:30 p.m., radio-controlled boats demonstration
Monday, 2-4 p.m., Scuba demonstration by Indiana conservation officers
Tuesday -Thursday, 2-3:30, paddling safety seminar
Friday, 2-4, Scuba demonstration by Indiana conservation officers
The pond will be open to fishing during the usual hours of 9 to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. each of these days, except tomorrow, when it will be open to fishing from 4 to 7 p.m. only. Parents should go to the pond to reserve a fishing time for their children upon arriving at the fair. No registration is necessary for the presentations.
The activities at the Fishin’ Pond and nearby DNR amphitheater are sponsored by Citizens Energy Group.
Adjacent to the Pond, inside the Natural Resources Building, guests can view fish in aquariums, learn about various DNR programs, pick up free copies of the latest Recreation Guide and many other informational brochures, subscribe to Outdoor Indiana magazine at a State Fair special deal, ask questions of DNR experts, visit Mother Nature’s Mercantile to purchase unique outdoors-based items, take an air-conditioned break and much more.
