Visitors are invited to this quaint community in Northeast Huntington County to taste the flavor of fine arts on Saturday, October 9. Artists from around the region will display their work on Main Street in historic downtown Roanoke for "A Renaissance in Roanoke", which runs from 10 am. to 5 pm.
The event features local and regional artists whose original artwork will be on sale, as well as live music, food and entertainment. A fall farmers market will also be available. Throughout the day, onlookers will be able to watch the progress Plein Air artists painting the picturesque town of Roanoke. Childrens' activities will include art projects directed by Saint Frances University students, face painting and caricatures by Tag Art Company, as well as an art exhibit showcasing the artwork from the children of Roanoke Elementary School. A high school and collegiate art exhibit will also be featured.
This is an invitational and juried show, offering an opportunity for the public to support the arts as well as interact and purchase art directly from the artists. Those attending the event will have an opportunity to cast their vote for the People's Choice Award. Charles Shepard, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, will judge the Plein Air Paintings at 4:00pm.
"A Renaissance in Roanoke" is made possible , in part, by a Neighborhood Grant from Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne. Additional funding was provided by The Roanoke Arts Council, Joseph Dequis, and other local sponsors.
