Ouabache's interpretive programs are family oriented. Parents and children are encouraged to attend activities together. An adult should accompany children under the age of 10. In the case of inclement weather, all hikes will meet at the Campview Shelter. Schedule subject to change.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 25
7 p.m. — Tree trek. We’ll take to the forest for a short hike along the tree trail and discover the many benefits of trees. Hike will leave from Trail head #3, located between campsites 30 and 32. Tennis shoes and bug spray are recommended.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 26
7 p.m. — Deer, oh dear. Deer are a beautiful part of our natural environment, but too many deer can cause problems. Learn about deer and the management techniques used to keep this population healthy at Lakeside Shelter.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 27
7:30 p.m. — Mudpuppies. Meet down at the Boat House to learn more about these mysterious water creatures.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 28
9:30 a.m. — Hop along toady. These little critters can be heard singing at night and are common visitors to our backyard gardens. Discover what toads might be in your backyard at Campview Shelter. Bring an empty coffee can or old pot with you to create a toad house after the program.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. Discover! Connect! Explore! Learn more about these great project based programs that you can complete at any of the State Parks and Reservoirs. Get started by meeting at Campview Shelter located in the middle of Campground A!
1:45 p.m. — Origami frog craft. Learn how to create your own origami frog on the pool lawn during the safety check. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
8 p.m. — Fabulous frogs. We’ll search the water’s edge for frogs during this 60 minute hike around the lake. Meet at the Boat House to begin this adventure! Tennis shoes and bug spray are recommended.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 29
10 a.m. — Worship service. Join a local pastor for a worship service in the beauty of the great outdoors. Service is held at Campview Shelter.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. See Saturday for details.
1:45 p.m. — The great blue. This giant is a frequent visitor at Ouabache. Learn more about the Great Blue Heron on the pool lawn during the safety check. Swimmers, make sure to get your hand stamped!
