Fish fry & chicken strips dinner March 3
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, Waynedale, is hosting a Country Chef, "all-u-can-eat" fish fry and chicken strips dinner Saturday, March 3, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Menu includes potato wedges, applesauce or coleslaw, rolls, drinks and a variety of desserts. Dine in, carry-out or drive-up options will be available. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $5.50 for children ages 6-11, and free for children 5 years old and under. Annual Doctor's Day March 3 at Science Central
Spend the day at Science Central Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and meet with area physicians, hospitals and other medical personnel to learn about everyday healthy choices. Swiss steak or ham dinner March 4
Hoagland Area Advancement Association will sponsor a Swiss Steak or Ham Dinner Sunday, March 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hoagland Park Pavilion located at 11320 Hoagland Road. Betty-Bullerman-Peters will prepare the food.

Fiber Fest at Jay County March 9-10
Jay County’s Fairgrounds will be the site of a Fiber Fest on the weekend of March 9-10. Admission is $1 and parking is free.

Friday, March 9, from 9 a.m., to 3 p.m. has been designated as Educational Day with fiber arts classes being offered. There also will be artists vendors, food vendors and demonstrations all day. From 4 to 7 p.m. there will be a benefit soup supper. Vendors will be open from 4 to 7 p.m.

Farm Bureau 2012 Spring Conference March 9 & 10
The Farm Bureau Spring Conference will be held Friday, March 9-10 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Indianapolis Marriott East, 7202 E 21st St., Indianapolis.

Farm Bureau members from around the state will gather for the conference. Featured speakers will be Betty Wolanyk of Ag Literacy Works and Todd Hunt. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. each day.

Comic book convention Feb. 25
A comic book convention will be held at the Comfort Suites, located at 5775 Coventry Lane, Fort Wayne Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Dealers from several states will be on hand with a wide variety of comic books from the golden age to present. Also available will be related collectible items such as action figures.

Tom and Colton Kellam to perform Feb. 28
Tom and Colton Kellam, the father and son vocal duo from Wells County, will perform songs from their hearts Tuesday, Feb. 28, during a banquet and concert at South Adams Senior Center in Berne. Colton Kellam, a 17-year-old junior at Southern Wells High School, will join his dad, Tom Kellam.

For reservations, call 260-589-8877. Cost is $10 each. The menu will include: baked chicken breast, and swiss steak, baked potato, tossed salad, California blend, rolls, cake and beverages.

Cooking Class offered March 12
The Parks and Recreation Department will offer a cooking class Monday, March 12, at the Bluffton Middle School Culinary Arts Room. Cost and menu are still to be determined. Call 824-6069.

Class tonight for downloading ebooks
The Wells County Public Library will offer a class on how to download ebooks and eaudiobooks from the library on from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. Participants will learn how to browse, checkout, and download ebooks and eaudiobooks using the library’s Overdrive service. Class will also cover general ereader tips on using your Kindle, Nook, iPad, or other device. Attendees can also stay for an ereader question and answer session at the end of the class.

"Fun-Filled Friday" Feb. 24
South Adams Seniors Center will sponsor a "Fun-Filled Friday" Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be mini local entrepreneurs. This event is free to all participating. The center is located at 825 Hendricks St, Berne. For more information call 260-589-8877.

Winter carnival Feb. 25
St. Aloysius Catholic School, 14607 Bluffton Road, Yoder, winter carnival will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gym.
There is not cost to enter the carnival, but there will be game tickets for 25 cents each or six for $1 as each game or activity will require one ticket. There will be prizes for the games and activities. Our sixth- through eighth-grade students will be assisting at each game/activity.

Get your tickets for a chance at the raffle with great prizes for adults and children. The tickets will be on sale for $1 each or six for $5.

All proceeds are for tuition assistance and any donation will be gladly accepted.

Jericho hosting Chili Supper Carry-Out Feb. 25
A chili supper/carry-out will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at Jericho from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Meal will include a 12 ounce tub of chili, crackers and wedge of corn bread. Pre-order forms are available at Jericho. Walk-in's are welcome. Contact Jericho at 353-1340 for any questions.

Knitting lessons offered
Sign up for three group knitting lessons that will run Wednesday, Feb. 15, 22 and 29, in city hall. Cost is $10 due the first day. Bring size 7, 8 or 9 needles and cotton yarn to make your dish rag with.

Call the park office to pre-register at 824-6069. Class size is limited and open to beginners and advanced students.

Toddler Tuesdays & Thursdays
Toddler Tuesdays and Thursdays are available for parents to bring their children to the gym to play with others their age every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon.

The storage closet on the east side of the gym is open for you to take equipment. On March 6 there will be a treasure hunt in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. At 11:45 children will be brought upstairs to find the green fortune cookies and chocolate coins. FREE. For more information call 824-6069.

There is still time to get a reservation for the Champagne and Chocolate event to be held at the Creative Arts Center in Bluffton Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.

Daddy Daughter Ball Feb. 19
The 2012 Daddy Daughter Black and White Ball will be held Feb. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the 4-H Community Center.

Tickets go on sale Jan. 5 at the City Clerk Treasurer's office at City Hall. Guests are encouraged to dress in black and white. Cost is $10 per couple and $3 each additional daughter. For more information call 824-6069.

Winter carnival Feb. 25

The League for the Blind and Disabled meeting Feb. 27
An organizational meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m. at the Wells County Public Library in Bluffton.

The meeting is open to any individual, friend or family member who would like to learn about resources to enhance living independently with vision loss.

Rails to Romance Feb. 10 & 11
The Whitewater Valley Railroad in Connorsville will sponsor Rails to Romance, Friday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m.

Cost is $39 per person. The fare will include round trip train ticket, meal, dessert, drink, tax and tip. Seating is limited. Reservations and meal selections are required in advance of the day of departure.

Birthday celebration planned at Muncie Children's Museum Feb. 11
Muncie’s Children’s Museum will be celebrating its 35th birthday during the month of February.
On Feb. 11, a Princess & Pirates Party will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will decorate cupcakes, listen to princess and pirate stories and decorate a princess crown or pirate hat to take home. Cost is $15. To register to participate contact Katy at kwilliams1701@comcst.net.

Sunday, Feb. 12, will be half price Sunday. There will be a Kids’ Karaoke and kids will receive a free “sand art” to enjoy.

A free Saturday will be held on Feb. 18, with jungle fun. At 1:15 p.m. the Muncie Civic Theatre youth actors will bring their Disney Jungle Book Kids for a short performance. At 2 p.m. the rhythmic sounds of the Muncie Symphony Orchestra percussion section and instrument petting zoo will be on hand. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. jungle puppets may be decorated to take home. The museum’s Alligator Blue will be on hand as well. The museum is located at 515 South High St. in Muncie. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Saturday Night at the Village Feb. 11

Children's ministries at the Bluffton First Church of the Nazarene will sponsor a fundraiser at the Brew Ha! in Ossian Sunday, Feb. 12.

Date and the time slots available are: 3:30-4:30 and 4:30-5:30. Tickets are $12.

Fish Fry Feb. 10 at Hartford City
Members of the Blackford County 4-H Fair board will sponsor a fish fry Friday, Feb. 10, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Blackford County 4-H Building, located at 310 E. Park Ave., Hartford City. Liver and onion supper Feb. 11
Members of Petroleum United Methodist Church will sponsor a liver and onion supper Saturday, Feb. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m.

The all-you-can-eat supper will include liver and onions, mashed potatoes, noodles, vegetable, salad, dessert and drink.

Jody Heaston to speak at Zanesville Lions Club dinner Feb. 13
Nature speaker Jody Heaston will be the guest at the Zanesville Lions Club dinner meeting Monday, Feb. 13 at the Zanesville Lions Clubhouse at 3088 W. VanHorn St. (ballpark).

Jody's program will be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. The program is free and is a service of the club.

Master Gardeners to meet Feb. 16th
The Wells County Master Gardeners will meet Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the 4-H Park at Bluffton.

The program for the evening will be presented by Wayne Fox, former owner of Huntington Nursery and horticulture specialist. He has over 40 years experience in landscape design, plant culture, soil composition as well as other garden related information.

The forum is open to the public at no charge.

This meeting will count as Educational credit to those Master Gardeners attending.

Trivia Night Feb. 18
Hoagland Area Advancement Association and Higher Academic Achievement will sponsor Trivia Night Saturday, Feb. 18, at Hoagland Park Pavilion at 11320 Hoagland Road. Doors will open at 7 p.m. Contest will start at 8 p.m.

Cost is $10 per person or $100 per table (with 10 people). Included in the ticket is soda, water, chips and pretzels. Beverages will be available for purchase. Those attending must be 21 years old.

Prizes are as follows: $250 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place teams.
