Ouabache State Park Events

Ouabache's interpretive programs are family oriented. Parents and children are encouraged to attend activities together. An adult should accompany children under the age of 10. In the case of inclement weather, all hikes will meet at the Campview Shelter. Schedule subject to change.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11
7 p.m. — Life in a box. This turtle spends its entire life in a small area. Find out more about this rarely seen member of Ouabache forest at Trails End Shelter.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 12
1:45 p.m. — Green headed duck. This dabbling duck can sometimes be seen at Ouabache. Learn why his head really looks green on the pool lawn to during the safety break. Swimmers, make sure to get your hand stamped!
3:45 p.m. — One nasty bite! These nasty little insects have bad bite and for reasons more than just cauding you to itch. Discover how mosquitoes transmit diseases such as West Nile on the pool lawn during the safety check. Swimmers, make sure to get your hand stamped!
7:30 p.m. — Water waders. These graceful birds help keep the lake healthy. Find out how tonight at Lakeside Shelter.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 13
1:45 p.m. — The eyes have it. Eyes are amazing and are used in many different ways by many different animals. Discover the difference on the pool lawn during the safety break. Swimmers, make sure to get your hand stamped!
3:45 p.m. — Constellation myth. Constellations came to be for a reason. Find out what it was on the pool lawn during the safety break. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
7:30 p.m. — Leapin’ lizards. Did you know you could find lizards here in Indiana? Learn which ones are here tonight at Campview Shelter.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 14
9:30 a.m. — Going native. Native plants are the way to go for easy and beautiful gardens. Learn more about the benefits and some of the native plants of this area at Campview Shelter.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. Discover! Connect! Explore! Learn more about these great project based programs that you can complete at any of the State Parks and Reservoirs. Get started by meeting at Campview Shelter located in the middle of Campground A!
1:45 p.m. — Summer bummers. These bummers can put a real kink in your summer if you have a run in with them. Find out what you can do to avoid them on the pool lawn during the safety break. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
10 p.m. — Perseid party. Watch nature’s fireworks tonight during the Perseid Meteor Shower. We’ll meet on the large hill by the pool for a night of oohhs! and aahhs! No flashlights please. Parking is available at the pool. Bug spray and a chair or blanket is recommended.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 15
10 a.m. — Worship service. Join a local pastor for a worship service in the beauty of the great outdoors. Service is held at Campview Shelter.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. See Saturday for details.
1:45 p.m. — Soaring squirrels. These small squirrels glide from tree to tree. Discover the flying squirrel on the pool lawn during the safety break. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
