Haunted Forest at Blackford
Oct. 23, 24, 30 & 31
Blackford High School Softball will sponsor The Haunted Forest held Oct. 23 and 24 from 7 to 11 p.m. and Oct. 30 and 31 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Blackford High School on State Road 3, north of Hartford City. Cost is $6 per person. Not recommended for children after 8 p.m.

Little Shop of
Horrors Oct. 29-31
at Portland
The Little Shop of Horrors will be presented Oct. 29-31 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Hall-Moser Theatre. To purchase tickets contact Arts Place, located at 131 E. Walnut Street, Portland or call 260-726-4809. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students. On Thursday, Oct. 29 all performances are $7. American Council of the Blind of Indiana Convention
Oct. 30-31
Anyone who has low vision, is losing vision or is blind may want to plan now to attend the American Council of the Blind of Indiana’s 38th annual convention. It will be held Oct. 30 and 31 at The Marten House, 1801 West 86th Street, Indianapolis.
The theme of this year’s convention is “Envisioning the Future through ACBI.”
Friday evening’s session will begin at 7 p.m. Highlights of the evening session will be updates on developments and student activities from the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and a presentation by ACB’s Director of Governmental Relations, Eric Bridges, on his personal journey to success.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, with the business meeting starting at 9 a.m.
Scheduled speakers are: William Dixon from Bosma Enterprises will talk about AmeriCorps/Vista and his project at Bosma Enterprises. Rochelle Schmitt, Nappanee, will talk about her participation in the Braille Challenge and her trip to the national finals. Eric Bridges from the ACB National office, Washington, DC will speak on updates in legislation regarding people with vision loss. Dr. Debra McConnaha will give a presentation on eye care and prevalent eye conditions.
Several vendors of adaptive aids and devices will be present on Saturday to demonstrate their products.
