What's Up October

ArtMorph Exhibit now through Jan. 3
ArtMorph: Combining Art ad Science is a new temporary exhibit now through Jan. 3, 2010 at Science Central in Fort Wayne.
The exhibit will show various pieces of artwork created out of recycled plastic and metal items including penguins, cheetah, fish, crane, horse, stork and goat scupltures.
A variety of interactive stations will allow for hands-on experiences about how scientists classify animals, animal anatomy, recycling methods and materials science.
Hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and students, children under age three are free. For more information log onto: www.sciencecentral.org.

Spooktacular! at Limberlost Oct. 24
Limberlost State Historic Site will present Spooktacular! Oct. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Geneva.
No brute beasts or menacing monsters will be present — just creatures that sneak, slink and slither in the night! A few of the animals featured include rats, hissing cockroaches, a Patagonian Cavy and snakes. Dare to embrace these slithery creatures of the night. Discover the behaviors of these wild animals while creating a scary creature of your own. Children can participate in Halloween games and win prizes and candy.
Children in costume will receive goodie bags from the Swamp Monster. Cost is $3. For more information about Limberlost State Historic Site, go to indianamuseum.org/limberlost or call the site at 260-368-7428.

Soup and Sandwich Supper Oct. 27
The Swiss Heritage Society will sponsor Soup, Sandwich and Pie Supper on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the South Adams High School in Berne.
The menu will include chicken noodle, chili, (donated by the Palmer House) and ham and bean soups, ham, hot dogs and Sloppy Joe sandwiches and a huge variety of delicious pies and cakes for dessert. The ham and bean soup is made “from scratch” by volunteers over the open fire at Swiss Heritage Village and contains about ten pounds of country-smoked ham. Swiss Heritage Society members and community friends donate all the ingredients for the supper.
Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
The community is invited to attend the supper and then the Berne Halloween parade at 7 p.m.

Senior Luncheon Oct. 28
The October Senior Luncheon will be held at the South Adams Senior Center, 825 Hendricks St.,Berne Wednesday, Oct. 28 at noon.
The luncheon will be catered by Norm's Preble Gardens and the menu consists of baked pork chop, cheesy potatoes, California Blend vegetables, roll and butter, chocolate cake, lemonade and coffee.
Entertainment will be furnished by Doug Milligan, Trombonist, from Geneva.
October birthdays and anniversaries will be acknowledged and door prizes will be given away.
Cost is $5 per person. Call the Senior Center at 589-8877 to make your reservations by Monday, Oct. 26.
Anyone 55 from any of the surrounding counties is welcome to attend.
If you need transportation for the luncheon, please call 589-8877 for the Council on Aging Van to pick you up. A small donation for the van service would be appreciated.
