paint-out canceled
The Saturday Plein Air paint out event scheduled by the Creative Arts Council to be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, has been canceled due to “iffy” weather for setting up an easel for painting outside.
Artists are welcome anytime to come to the Arts Commerce & Visitors Centre patio and set up to paint the scenery along the river.
Another opportunity is to come to the AC&VC on Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon to join the group of artists who paint weekly in Studio B.
Spooktacular at
Limberlost State
Historic Site Oct. 24
Prepare to be spooked by a live display of creepy, crawly critters at the Limberlost State Historic Site’s Spooktacular on Oct. 24 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.!
No brute beasts or menacing monsters will be present — just creatures that sneak, slink and slither in the night! A few of the animals featured include rats, hissing cockroaches, a Patagonian Cavy and snakes. Dare to embrace these slithery creatures of the night. Discover the behaviors of these wild animals while creating a scary creature of your own. Children can participate in Halloween games and win prizes and candy. Children in costume will receive goodie bags from the Swamp Monster. Cost is $3. Call the site at 260-368-7428.
Free dinner at Life Oct. 25
Life Community will serve a free dinner Sunday Oct. 25. Dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. Meals can be eaten at the church or carried out. There is a limit of five carry out meals per person. Contact Life at 824-2252.
Deadline Nov. 2 for quarterly senior
citizens’ dinner
New Hope Lutheran Church, on the south edge of Ossian, will again host its quarterly Senior Citizens’ Dinner (for anyone in the community age 55 or better) on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 a.m. Join us for a fun time, a hot meal, a sing-a-long with Ed Higgins, and entertainment by the Vaudeville comedy team of Bower-Nedberg, A free will offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the meal. Make reservation by calling the church office at 622-7954 by Monday, Nov. 2.
Open the Doors to Science Nov. 6
On Friday, Nov. 6 Science Central will offer “Open the Doors to Science” from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The event is designed to showcase the past, present and future of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and its impact in the Northeast Indiana region. Cost is $100 per person with proceeds benefiting Science Central and their programs. Call 260-424-2400, ext. 423.
Harvest Dinner, Bazaar, & Gospel Concert Nov. 7
Ossian United Methodist Harvest Dinner, Bazaar, and Gospel Concert are being held on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church. Choice of a turkey or ham meal, homemade dressing and mash potatoes/gravy, green beans, cranberry salad or applesauce, homemade pies, and a drink. Cost for the meal is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5-10, and children 4 and under are free. Carryout is also available. You will find Christmas ornaments, baked goods, Rada Cutlery, and many more items at the bazaar. The “3rd Row Boys” will be performing in the church Sanctuary at 4:15, 5 p.m., 5:45, and 6:30. Each show is free and will last approximately 25 minutes. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased by calling the church office at 622-4326.
