Drama Club running through May 25
The Boys and Girls Club will sponsor a Drama Club from March 2 through May 25 from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m. for those age 10 through 12.

B&G Club soccer will go through April 30
The Boys and Girls Club will offer soccer with Aldo from March 3 to April 30.
Those in grades first through third will practice from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Those in grades fourth through sixth will practice on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Paws to Read program slated at Markle library
Huntington City-Township Public Library sponsors spring PAWS-TO-READ programs
The Huntington City-Twp. Public Library in Markle will sponsor the spring Paws-to-Read Program.
The mission is to improve the literacy skills of children with the assistance of registered canine reading companions in a fun and relaxed environment. Children ages six through 12 will participate in one-on-one sessions in which they practice reading aloud to trained therapy dogs. Research with therapy animals indicates that children with low self-esteem are often more willing to interact with an animal than another person. Even more, they are inclined to forget about their limitations.
Dates for the program at Markle will be Markle on Saturdays only, March 28, April 4 and April 18, at 197 East Morse St.

Garage sale at Celina will be held April 2-7
The Senior Citizen Center in Celina will sponsor a garage sale April 2 through April 7 at 217 Riley St., Celina, just north of the swimming pool.
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week, Thursday evenings until 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. For more information call 419-586-1644.

Southern Sound at Gospel Barn April 4
Southern Sound will open the new season at the Gospel Barn, 3550 South State Road 1, Bluffton, on Saturday, April 4. This talented group from Nashville, TN is comprised of five men who are determined to revive that polished style of quartet singing that first became popular in the 50’s and 60’s. Southern Sound not only sounds great but they have a powerful and inspiring testimony.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with pre-concert music by CC Trio at 7 p.m. and the concert at 7:30. Admission is $5 for adults with children 12 and under free. A love offering will be taken. Concessions are available also.

Zanesville Lions Club
Easter Egg Hunt April 4
Zanesville Lions Club free Easter Egg Hunt, for children age 0-14, will be held rain or shine at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Zanesville Lions Community Park.
Following the hunt, there will be kids' games inside the building. Tickets cost 25 cents each with a prize every time.

Easter Egg Hunt April 4
The Bluffton Parks and Recreation will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4 at 4 p.m. sharp.
Meet at the Roush Park boy's concession stand with your own basket to put the eggs in.
Children will be divided into age groups (18 mos- 3 yrs, 4 & 5 yrs, 6-8 yrs, 9-11 yrs) for the hunt. This event is free.

Mushroom program offered on April 4
The Upper Wabash Interpretive Services is gearing up for the mushroom season with a program Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The program will include an informative talk, taste of mushroom bread and a hike to scout for mushroom habitat clues. Participants will also receive a book. Cost is $10 per person. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required by calling 260-468-2127.

Tri Kappa's Game and Trivia Night is April 4
Tri Kappa will host a Game and Trivia night Saturday, April 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Camelot in Vera Cruz. The location is being donated by owners Don and Mary Ann Bricker.
Join friends for an evening of Wii, cards and trivia. All-you-can-eat appetizers and cash bar will be provided. Door prizes will be awarded and a silent auction of donated items will be available.
Tickets are $10 per person from a committee member or by calling Jackie Chaney at 824-5277 or Patty Makowski at 273-0359. Proceeds go to funding for charity, culture and educational needs in the community.

Health fair at Asbury will be held April 4
Three churches will sponsor a health fair Saturday morning, April 4, in southern Wells County.
The Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church, 8013W-1100S-90, Montpelier, will host the event from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Also sponsoring the health fair are the Dillman United Brethren Church and the McNatt United Methodist Church.
Those attending can receive free height and weight checks, blood pressure checks, body mass index checks, and blood sugar checks (for those who have fasted). Free fecal occult blood testing will also be available.
Other tests will also be available for a fee. Free information on a number of health issues will also be available.
Participating organizations include Heritage Pointe, Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Blackford Community Hospital, Marion General Hospital, Northeast Indiana Hospice, the Panos Free Clinic, and the Hester Hollis Center.

Mother Son Dance April 5
The Bluffton Parks and Recreation will sponsor the Mother Son Dance Sunday, April 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wells County Community Building. Tickets are still available at the City Clerk Treasurer's Office. Cost is $10 a couple and $3 for each additional child.
Escorts may be the child's mother or other significant parental figure.
Games, meal, photos, treat bags, music and door prizes. 2009 Theme "Pirate" Make sure to come dressed like a pirate or be prepared to walk the plank!

Special Needs Pirate Dance April 5
The Bluffton Parks and Recreation will sponsor a Special Needs Pirate Dance Sunday, April 5 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Wells County 4-H Building.
Friends and family will enjoy a swash buckling good time of dancing, refreshments and photos. Cost is $1 per person. Dress for the evening is theme based.

Seniors Lunch at Salamonie April 6
Individuals age 50 or older are invited to the April 6 Senior Lunch at Salamonie Interpretive Center to learn about healthy restaurant eating.
The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a meal. The meat dish will be provided. Those attending should bring a dish to share, their own table service and $1 donation to help defray the cost of the meat.
Teresa Witkoske, Extension Educator, Purdue Consumer and Family Science for Wabash and Grant Counties will share tips for making good eating choices while dining out.

Children's author to speak at library April 7
Well known children’s author and poet Crystal Bowman will present Cracks in the Sidewalk at the Wells County Public Library on Tuesday, April 7 at 6: 30 p.m.
Bowman, from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., has written more than 50 children’s books including If Peas Could Taste Like Candy; Mommy, May I Hug the Fishes?; and the Jonathon James Series.

From Upper Room to Calvary planned at Living Water Church April 9
Living Water United Methodist Church will present From the Upper Room to Calvary, a special “Service of Song, Scripture and Communion,” Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m.
During the worship service those attending will meditate together and share in a memorial of Christ's last hours. Several “Moments of Scripture” from the Last Supper to the Garden, the Betrayal and Arrest, and Pilate's sentence of death, will recount the key events of Jesus' final moments before his Crucifixion. The service will finish with a celebration of the Lord's Supper.
The church is located 1/2 mile south of State Road 218 on 700E in Wells County.

Holy Week services at Trinity April 9 & 10
Members of the Fort Wayne Ballet will perform in Trinity Episcopal Church’s Holy Week services, located at 611 West Berry, Fort Wayne.
Dancers will be a part of the Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m. on April 9 and again at the Good Friday service at 7 p.m. April 10.
The church will be open on Good Friday for Stations of the Cross at noon and private meditation from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Great Vigil of Easter is scheduled for 8 p.m. on April 11 and Easter services will be at 7:30 and 10 a.m.
Trinity’s labyrinth will also be open to the public during the day on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday for personal meditation.

Easter Bunny Express will roll on April 11
CONNERSVILLE — The Whitewater Valley Railroad will sponsor the Easter Bunny Express Saturday, April 11 for children and families to ride the train to Bunny Patch Sattion to visit the Easter Bunny.
Cost is $9 for ages two and older. The fare includes the round trip train ride and egg hunt for children ages eight and under.
The train will depart Connersville's Grand Central Station at 10 a.m., 12:01 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Southern Wells Community Church will sponsor a Community Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. on the south playground at Southern Wells Elementary School.
There will be three age groups, a special needs group and door prizes for all ages. The Easter Bunny plans to hop too.

Delta Chapter of Gamma Nu will sponsor an Easter Bake Sale Saturday, April 11 at Pacesetter Bank of Montpelier beginning at 9 a.m. All proceeds will go to Kirtley Memorial Library for cancer research.

Hunter Education Course April 13-15
The dates for the Hunter Education Course are April 13, 14 and 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wells Community 4-H Building.

Herbs' Friends will host their 12th annual Community Plant Swap Saturday, May 2 from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Riverside Center in Decatur located at 231 E. Monroe Street.

River Dance Company will present Stand May 2 & 3
Finishing touches are being put on for the current production by the River Dance Company at the Family Life Center of Central Church at State Road 37 in Woodburn Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 at 6 p.m. The event is free. A free will offering will be taken.

Junior Achievement to host Nelson’s Chicken BBQ May 1
Junior Achievement serving Wells County will be hosting a Nelson’s Chicken BBQ on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Villa North Parking Lot (old Sav-A-Lot parking lot across from Wendy’s.)
The cost for dinner is $6 for chicken only and $9 for chicken and Pit-Tatoes.

All proceeds will benefit Junior Achievement programs in Wells County. This year over 2,000 students will benefit from Junior Achievement programs.

Golf fundraiser May 2
C&C Bible Fellowship will receive 10 percent of the proceeds of a golf outing fundraiser and food and gas drive Saturday, May 2 at Grey Goose in Decatur.
The rest of the money raised will go to Stillwater Stables to be used to build a new riding stable that will be used for a HIPPA therapeutic horsebakc program and to help off set private riding lessons for low income or disadvantaged children.
There is a need for 144 golfers who are willing to play in the tournament. People can also profit by purchasing a gas/food card to use.

Annual CycleFest in Auburn on May 16
AUBURN — Some 1,200 motorcycles will roar into Auburn Saturday, May 16. The 13th annual event includes a parade through Auburn, a poker run, a Peoples' Choice Bike Show, a bike rodeo, a burn-out cage, and commercial vendors. Good food, a beer garden, and great music will be available.
The event will take place at the Kruse Auction Park, located east of I-69 at CR 11-A.

Kid's Fishing Derbies will be held on June 6
Children ages two to 14 are welcome to participate in on of the Fishing Derbies at the three Upper Wabash Reservoirs — Roush Lake, Salamonie Lake, and Mississinewa Lake — June 6 during the statewide Free Fishing Weekend. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with fishing from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Award ceremonies will follow.
Children will be divided into age catagories two to five, six to 10 and 11 to 14. Each child will go home with a prize. Children should pre-register for the free events by callling 260-468-2127.

WILD training class will be held on June 20
The Upper Wabash Inerpretive Service will sponsor Project WILD training workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at Salamonie Reservoir's Interpretive Center. There is a $2 per person fee.
During the workshop home educators and leaders will take home two books full of well-researched and easy to use indoor and outdoor learning activities about wildlife and the environment to use with their youth.
