What's Up! (Earth Day) Wells County

Buddy, Dewy and Friends to perform April 26 at Dillman
The Dillman U.B. Church will sponsor a performance by Buddy, Dewy and Friends Sunday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The group is made up of 14 singing guys who will share avariety of music. Mike Schweikhardt and Larry Palmer are Buddy and Dewy. Bridget Schweikhardt is the creative director and Linda Walters is the music director.
Refreshments will follow the program. The chuch is located at 8888S-1100W-90 in Wells County. For more information call 260-375-2779. A love offering will be accepted during the event.

Deadline May 4 for senior citizens’
dinner
New Hope Lutheran Church, on the south edge of Ossian, will again host its quarterly Senior Citizens’ Dinner (for anyone in the community age 55 or better) on Thursday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m. Please come join us for a fun time! Join us for a hot meal, a sing-a-long with Ed Higgins, and entertainment by the Mossburg Strings. A free will offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the meal. Make reservation by calling the church office at 622-7954 by Monday, May 4.

Seniors lunch May 4 at Salamonie
Individuals age 50 and older will enjoy wildflowers at their best during the May 4 Senior's Luch at Salamonie Interpretive Center.
A meal will be held at 12:30 p.m. The meat dish will be provided. Those attending should bring a dish to share, their own table service and $1 donation to help defray the cost fo the provided meat dish.
Marvin McNew will present a program about wildflowers through power point slides. The group will then take a short walk on the Turkey Cove Trail to look for wildflowers.

Circus coming to Warren May 7
The Kelly Miller Circus will be near the Warren Huggy Bear Quick Stop at the intersection of I-69 and SR5 Thursday May 7 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Circus is being sponsored by the Salamonie Active Mens Club. Tickets for children under 12 years old are $6 and adult tickets are $10. Tickets are available at the Warren Pharmacy.

Warren Alumni
Banquet May 9
The deadline for making a reservation for the Warren Alumni Banquet is fast approaching. The banquet will be held at t he Knight-Bergman Center in Warren Saturday, May 9. Social hour will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m.
All former students, teachers and friends of the Warren School are encouraged to attend the events. The classes of 1949 and 1959 will be recognized as honored classes. Free Boater
Education Class
May 16
A free Boater Education Class is being offered May 16 by the INDR Law Enforcement Division and instructed by State Conservation officers at the Salamonie Interpretive Center.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To save a spot call 765-473-9722.
The Boater Education Class is required to operate a motorboat of 10hp or more on public waters in Indiana.
The course will cover the following: personal watercraft operation and use; proper personal flotation device use; state regulations and laws; nighttime operation concerns; basie first aid; what to do if involved in an accident.

Sound of Music
auditions May 28 & 30
The 2009 Berne Swiss Days celebration will include, as a feature event, the Broadway production “The Sound of Music,” to be presented in the South Adams High School Burkhalter Auditorium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 24, 25 and 26.
Try-outs are now being scheduled and are open to area children, teens and adults. Auditions will be held Thursday, May 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Auditioning individuals should come prepared to sing a song from one of the following categories: Children, “My Favorite Things;” Women, “The Sound of Music;” and Men, “Edelweiss.” An accompanist will be provided for auditions, and call backs, if needed, will be Monday, June 1.
Children in the cast will begin rehearsing Monday, June 15. Adult cast members will begin rehearsing one week later on Monday, June 22, with rehearsals four nights each week until the July performances.
