Wet Wacky Wednesday July 31
The pool will be open Wednesday, July 31 for an evening family swim from 6:30-8 p.m. Cost is $1.50 per person over age five. 
All youth must be accompanied by an adult. 

Senior Citizen Dinner at Ossian Aug. 1
New Hope Lutheran Church, located at the south edge of Ossian, will host its quarterly Senior Citizens Dinner for anyone age 55 or older Thursday, Aug. 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Ed Higgins will entertain with a sing-a-long. Naturalist Jody Heaston will talk about the “Value and Importance of Spiders.”
A free will offering dinner will be served by the ladies of New Hope.

Summer Party at FWMA on Aug. 2
On Friday, Aug. 2, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art will be holding a Celebration of Summer Party from 6 to 9 p.m. at the museum.
Featured will be the Sounds of Juke Joint Five and treats by Club Soda with a cash bar. On exhibit will be the Summer of Glass. 
Admission is $10 ($5 for museum members). no reservations needed.

Birthday event at Limberlost site Aug. 2
A 150th Birthday Celebration for author, naturalist, photographer and movie producer Gene Stratton-Porter will be held at the Geneva Limberlost State Historic Site on Friday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The event titled “Geneva’s Geneva” will feature food and fun with guests welcome to come in time period clothing.
Limberlost Manager Randy Lehman explains that the evening will include period music, the sampling of Indiana wines as well as parlor games popular during the late Victorian era. A special birthday cake and refreshments typical of the era will be served with recipes coming from a 1906 cookbook.

(Gene Stratton-Porter’s full name was Geneva. In 1888, Geneva, her husband Charles and infant daughter Jeannette, moved from Decatur to Geneva where Charles owned a drug store. They lived there for 25 years from 1888 to 1913.

Trade Days and Flea Market in Willshire Aug. 2-4
The Willshire Sportsman’s Club will sponsor their annual Trade Days and Flea Market Aug. 2, 3, 4. at the club grounds which are located 1.5 miles east of Willshire, Ohio on State Road 81 from 8 a.m. until dusk.
All kinds of hunting and fishing items will be available. There will be crafts and all kinds of flea market items as well. A gunsmith will also be on site. A food stand will be serving breakfast and sandwiches.

Bluffton Triathlon Aug. 3
Registration is now open for Bluffton’s first Triathlon to be held Saturday, Aug. 3 starting at 8 a.m. at the Wells Community Pool.
The race will include a 400-m Pool Swim, 10 mile bike ride and a 5k Run.

Trinity fall concert series begins Aug. 9
Season tickets are now are available for the 2013 Fall Concert series sponsored by WBCL and Trinity Communications. All concerts are presented at the First Assembly of God in Fort Wayne except for the first  concert on Aug. 9.

Blues rock concert at FW’s Philmore Aug. 9
Maurice John Vaughn will present a blues rock concert at The Philmore, 2441 Broadway in Fort Wayne on Friday, Aug. 9.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with the live show to begin at 9 p.m. Admission is $20.

Gala birthday celebration fundraiser Aug. 9
In celebration of Indiana author Gene Stratton-Porter’s birthday a Gala 150th Birthday Celebration is being planned for Friday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne.
VIP tickets for the Gala are $75 per person with $10 tickets also available to view a film made from one of her books. For more information call 260-854-3790.

The City of Ember movie to be shown Aug. 9 in Markle
Huntington Twp. Public Library in Markle at 197 E. Morse Street, will show The City of Ember Aug. 9 at 4:30 p.m. The movie is a science fiction and fantasy film based on the young adult novel by Jeanne DuPrau. Those attending can bring their own snack or beverage, and a bean bag chair or other comfortable seating. Registration is requested but not required. Call 758-3332 to reserve a place.  Children ages eight and younger must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling to attend.  This film is rated PG for mild peril and some thematic elements.

Wheels of Yesteryear Open Car and Truck Show Aug. 9-11
The annual Wheels of Yesteryear will be held Aug. 9-11 at the Wells County 4-H Park. The event will feature Oliver Tractors and related farm equipment. A Michindoh Truck and Tractor Pull will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. There will also be a toy show throughout the weekend. On Sunday, Aug. 11 there will be a car show held. Registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon.
