Club News

Busy Bees
The Busy Bees met at the Corner Depot at noon for their monthly meeting. Sharon Thomas was the hostess and she presented each guest a small Chinese vase.
President Diane Enyart opened the meeting with those present saying the Pledge to the flag. Following the pledge, the devotions was given by Emojean Brown; she read John 15:1-11.
Roll call was taken by those present giving an answer for their favorite Street Fair Food.
Diane used a reading entitled September 11.
Glenna Lee reported on the Club donation to the Southern Wells “needy fund”, then she gave the treasurer’s report.
Emojean read the Thought of the Month and Diane reported on the Council meeting. A new cookie cookbook is in the making with recipes from those participating in the 4-H cookie bake.
There will be NO participation in the Wheels of Yesteryear meeting next year for the fish fry.
Diane gave each member the booklet called “Life Made Simple” a gift from Jerry Shaw.
It was noted that the volunteer day at the 4-H Pancake/Sausage Booth will be Thursday of Street Fair.
The new Extension Educator will be coming at the end of September. She is Mollie Hough.
The lesson for the day was 10 Simple Rules for a Happier Life.
The song of the month was sung, monies for the flower fund and coins were collected.
The door prize was won by Glenna Lee and the Homemaker’s Creed was used in closing.

O.D.O
The ODO Extension Homemakers club met Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Corner Depot with Sharlene Warthman as hostess.
President Joyce Hacker opened the meeting with leading the members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the Homemakers Creed. Joyce also read the thought of the month ‘I’ve learned that is impossible to teach without learning something yourself’.
Leah Teeple gave the devotions entitled ‘Letting Go’.
Roll call was answered by 11 members to ‘What is you favorite Fair Food’.
We broke for supper and enjoyed a meal of ones’ choice and a piece of pie compliments of our hostess Sharlene.
After the meal, the secretaries report was read and approved. No treasurers report in absence of our Treasurer Charlotte Gehring due to the death of her father.
Coins for friendship were collected.
Jan Anderson, Joyce Hacker and Lois Biberstein shared their experiences of their one day camp at Camp Mack.
Jan and Lois also reported on the day at the district meeting Sept. 3.
Reservations were made to attend the Fall Program Fair and Holiday Happenings by the members planning to go.
A reminder to the Club that we will be cleaning the 4-H kitchen Oct. 6 at 9 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 24, is Homemakers Day in the pancake booth at the fair. If you can help let the Extension Office know when.
You’re a Grand Old Flag was then sung by all twice.
A big thanks to Sharlene for hosting the evening and for the pie. Present were: Jan Anderson, Lois Biberstein, Eva Bowman, Sharon Cowens, Kathy Garner, Joyce Hacker, Dorothy Hunt, Edythe Kleinknight, Mary Osborn, Leah Teeple and Sharlene Warthman.
The next meeting will be Oct. 21 at Jan Anderson's at 7 p.m.
