Batik Workshop

A Batik Workshop will be held Wednesday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wells County Creative Arts Center. Cost is $17.50 per person.
Learn dye and wax resist techniques inspired by the African art form of batik. Call 824-5222.
LaFontaine Concert series begins July 24
The LBD Trio kicks off LaFontaine Arts Council’s Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 24 at 6:30 at the beautiful Historic Forks of the Wabash in Huntington.
In their inaugural performance, the LBD Trio will perform gospel, jazz, pop and country tunes for the audience.
This year marks the 8th season of summer concerts sponsored by LaFontaine Arts Council for the Huntington Community. Concessions will be available.
The concerts are free to the public.
A freewill offering is taken after each concert. Proceeds will be directed toward the arts council’s yearly scholarship, which is awarded to a county student focusing on fine arts education. Call Debbie Dyer at 260-358-0055.
Engraved 4-H Silver Coin to be auctioned July 23
An engraved 4-H silver coin will be sold at the Livestock Auction Thursday, July 23 at the 4-H Fair.
The coin was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Ron Myers. It is the size of a silver dollar with the 4-H emblem on one side and a 2009 Wells County 4-H on the other.
The sale of the coin will go toward the $2,000 goal set by the Wells County 4-H Foundation toward the Junior Leader Building Fund.
The auction will be begin at 3:30 p.m.
Sale order is: Dairy Feeder, Goat, Poultry, Swine, Rabbit, Beef, 4-H Foundation Items, Dairy, Dairy Beef and Sheep.
Truck and Tractor Pull July 25
The Monroe Lions Club will host a Truck and Tractor Pull Saturday, July 25 at the Wells County 4-H Fairgrounds in Bluffton. Weigh in is at 4 p.m. The event will start at 6 p.m. Included in the event will be the following classes: Call John Gilbert at 260-592-7218. Concessions will be available.
Flag Retirement
Ceremony July 25
The public and Cub or Boy Scout groups are welcome to attend a U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m. at Salamonie Reservoir at the Youth Campground. Visitors are welcome to bring worn flags for retirement. Those with a flag can show it at the gate and have the gate fee waived for the event. Call 260-468-2127.
