Farmer’s Market Wednesdays and Saturdays
The Farmer’s Market is open at the Dutch Mill Plaza (Main Street at the bridge) on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Current features include herbs, flowers, fresh fruits, fresh local vegetables, including sweet corn, tomatoes, potatoes, melons, squash, fresh baked goods, fresh roasted coffee, locally produced BBQ sauces and spice mixes, locally grown meat, woodworking products, candles, lotions, handmade crafts, and more. Christmas in Our Town Dec. 6 & 7
Markle’s Christmas in “Our Town” will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 7. Individuals and local businessses are needed to help the Markle Chamber of Commerce organize and plan the weekend. Those interested can call Linda Beck at 820-0089 by Oct. 17. Past activities have included horse and wagon rides, craft vendors, Santa visits, train rides for kids, a soup supper, an organ recital and more.
Free Sports Card Show Oct. 18
The monthly sports card and collectibles show will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hotel Fort Wayne (formally the Marriott), located at 305 E. Washington Center Road, Exit 312a off of I-69, Fort Wayne.
Dealers will be buying, selling and trading new and vintage sport and non sport cards, hobby boxes, supplies and memorabilia.
Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend .

Holiday Happenings Oct. 21
The Wells County Extension Homemakers will host Holiday Happenings on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Wells County 4-H Community Building in Bluffton. The program will include a Wells County Medical Alert Presentation, Flower Demonstration and $2 Make It and Take It Craft. Register by calling the Wells County Extension Office at 824-6412 by Oct. 17.
Callithumpian Quilt Show Oct. 25 & 26
Members of the Creative Quilter’s Guild will sponsor the 13th annual Callithumpian Quilt Show Saturday, Oct. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Riverside Center in Decatur. Hours for the show are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 per person. The Riverside Center is located at 231 E. Monroe St. in Decatur.
Those wishing to enter their their quilts in the show may do so by dropping off quilted items on Friday, Oct. 24 between 1 and 5:30 p.m. at the Riverside Center. Security protection will be provided.
Quilts may be picked up on Sunday, Oct. 26 between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
Awards will include: People’s Choice, Guest Judge’s Choice and Committee’s Choice.
