Autumn Adventure Oct. 31
The Bluffton Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the annual Autumn Adventure Friday, Oct. 31.
Those attending can dress in their favorite costume and come to the city gym from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween night. Walk through the spooky decorations and collect treats.
Downtown Trick or Treat hours are 5 to 6 p.m. and the outskirts of town will be 6 to 7 p.m.
Businesses or clubs who would like to hand out candy in the gym can call the park office at 824-6069 for table space. Plan for an attendance of around 1,500. This is a free event.
Halloween fun at Montpelier Oct. 31
The Montpelier Parks and Recreation will sponsor a free Halloween Fun event in Montpelier Friday, Oct. 31. Activities include a parade at 5:30 p.m. with a costume contest to follow. There will be trick or treating in parking lot behind the Montpelier Civic Center where local businesses will have booths.
Line up for the parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Montpelier School angle drive.
The costume contest will award prizes for the cutest, scariest, most original and best group. There will also be free hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn for those in attendance. In case of inclement weather the event will be moved inside the Civic Center.
Nine openings left for cooking class beginning Nov. 10
The Bluffton Parks Department will sponsor a Fall Cooking Class. This session for adults and teens will cover the farm to table approach with pumpkins.
Learn how to make your own puree and then watch a demonstration on how to make a pumpkin roll.
The lesson will be held at the culinary arts room of the Bluffton Middle School on Monday Nov. 10 from 6-8 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 12 paid participants who pre-register. Cost is $12 and checks can be mailed to the park office at 128 E. Market. Questions call 824-6069.
Free Pancake Breakfast Nov. 1
Faith Chapel Youth will host a Blessing to the Community Free All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sonshine Daycare Ministries, located at 103 N. 3rd St. in downtown Decatur.
The breakfast is free while donations will be accepted. Money raised will go towards youth group attending the Holiday Youth Convention in Indianapolis in January of 2015. For more information, contact the church at 260-728-2911.
Ossian invites public to Charrette Nov. 3
Members of the Ossian Steering Committee is inviting the public to attend a Charrette Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall at 507 N. Jefferson St. in Ossian to discuss Ossian Parks.
The Charrette is an intensive planning session where citizens, designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. It provides a forum for ideas and offers advantage of giving immediate feedback to the designers. Refreshments will be available during the meeting. Rummage sale Nov. 6-8
The Zanesville Lions and friends rummage sale will be held Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 6-8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Zanesville Lions ballpark, 3088 W. Van Horn St. One half of all sales goes to the Zanesville Lions Community Christmas lighting contest cash prizes. For more information call 638-4327. Apple dumpling orders will also be available. The cost is $2 each with caramel topping. They will be ready to eat, freeze, or microwave Nov. 20 or until sold out.
Shrek the musical at FW Civic
Among the cast members of the musical Shrek will be Gavin Drew, who has appeared many times in Wells Community Theatre productions. Drew will take the role of Pic #2, Duloc Dancer when the production takes to the stag Nov. 8 to Nov. 23 at the Arts United Center in Fort Wayne.
There will be 8 p.m. performances on Nov. 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 and 2 p.m. curtain times on Nov. 8, 9, 16 and 23.
