What's Up? (School starts)

Farmer's Market Wednesdays and Saturdays
Farmer's Market is held each Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and each Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the corner of Main and Washington Streets in Bluffton.
Available will be: sweet corn, red beets, green beans, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes (red and yellow), squash, pies, cakes, cookies, jam, jelly, honey, peaches, apples, free ranges eggs, wood crafts, decorated gourds, hand crafted cards and perennials. (Pd. Advt.)

Constitutional Patriots meeting Aug. 17
The Constitutional Patriots will meet on Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., at the Christian New Light Fellowship Hall at 1011 W. Washington Street, Bluffton.
The purpose of the organization is to provide a resource of education about government processes, our Constitution, and the proactive measures concerned citizens can take. The public is welcome to come learn and participate.

Pie Baking Contest at Markle Wildcat Festival Aug. 21
A Pie Baking Contest will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at the Markle Fish and Game Park during the Markle Wildcat Festival. First prize is $100, second prize is $50 and third prizeis $25.
Judging will be based on the following criteria: Overall Appearance, Crust, Flavor and Texture.
It must be a nine inch pie; have a 3x5 card with recipe, name and address; no pre-made or frozen pies or mix will be allowed; any kind of pie accepted; use non-returnable baking dish; entry fee is $2 per pie with a limit of two pies. Poe Volunteer
Fireman's Festival Aug. 21-22
The 71st annual Poe Volunteer Fireman's Festival will be held Aug. 21 and Aug. 22.
On Friday there will be a benefit auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. If interested in donating call 260-639-3992.
On Saturday there will be backyard volleyball, horseshoes, a motorcycle poker run (registration from 10:30 a.m. to noon), a Euchre tournament, kids tractor pull, food beer tent, kids games and more. A bike drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday night.

Discover The
Making of America seminar Aug. 22
Discover The Making of America seminar will be presented Saturday, Aug. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Huntington University at 2303 College Ave., Huntington.
Developing America's Great Success Formula will be presented from 8:30 a.m. to noon. There will be a lunch break from noon to 12:45 p.m. followed by a The Perfect Plan of Liberty presentatin from 12:45 to 4:30 p.m. Teacher will be Dr. W. Cleon Skousen.
Cost is $15 per person and includes a 135 page study guide and light snacks. Only 100 seats are available.

Festival of Kekionga Aug. 21-23
The Festival of Kekionga will be held Aug. 21-23 at the Riverside Center at 231 E. Monroe Street, Decatur.
Friday, Aug. 21 will be Education Day for students only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will open to the public from 5 to 8 p.m. with midway rides and mini riding lessons.
On Aug. 22 there will be a downtown farmer's market from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with 1804os pioneer encampment period craft demonstrations, food and craft vendors and more.
Sunday, Aug. 23 the festival will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 260-724-2604.

Markle Wildcat
Festival Vegetable and Flower Show Aug. 23
The Vegetable and Flower Show will be held Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. during the Markle Wildcat Festival at the Markle Fish and Game Park.
Those competing can bring their vegetables and flowers between 10 a.m. and noon. Judging will begin at 1 p.m. Pickup will be at 3 p.m. There will be first, second and third place ribbons and an Overall Grand Prize awarded.Items entered must be locally grown. There is only one entry per category. There is no entry fee.
Flower categories include: Theme, Single Blossom, One Variety Bouquet, Mixed Flower Bouquet, Non-Blooming Potted Plant, Blooming Potted Plant, African Violets, Ferns, Miniatures, Cacti and Succulent, Nature's Goofs, Young Botanists (under age 12).

Three on Three Tournaments begin Aug. 24
The Wells Community Boys and Girls Club will sponsor a Three on Three Basketball Tournament from Aug. 24 throught Sept. 30 every Wednesday. Elementary students can play on Mondays at 5 p.m. High school students can play at 5 p.m. every Wednesday.
