Deadline Aug. 31 for Sci-Fi Film Marathon
Science Central presents an event custom-made for Science Fiction lovers. Enjoy a long night of seven movies, popcorn, pizza and door prizes for your inner sci-fi geek! The marathon takes place Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. The science wonders don’t end until 9 a.m. the next morning!
The Sci-Fi Film Marathon: a night of imagination is only $35 for non-members and $30 for members. Participants must be 18 years or older and are asked to bring their own comfortable seating. Spaces are very limited and those interested should register by Aug. 31. Come to Science Central to see a full spectrum of classics, cult favorites and recent sci-fi blockbusters!

American Legion Changes at Jamboree
The Sons of the American Legion and the Auxiliary food booth will be different this year for the Montpelier Jamboree. They will be selling food one day only, on Sunday Sept. 6 beginning at 11 a.m. Menu will include: baked steak, barbeque pork, plain pork, sour kraut, green beans, potato salad and mashed potatoes. Parking lot is on the west side of the Legion. Access will be off of Green street for everyone. They will also have a car smash that will run from Thursday to Sunday.

Try outs for Little Shop of Horrors Sept. 1 & 2
Little Shop of Horrors will be try outs will be held Sept 1 Sept. 2 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Art's Place at 131 E. Walnut Street, Portland. Performance Dates are: Oct. 29, 30, 31 and Nov. 1. Rodeo Sept. 5
A Rodeo will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wells County 4-H Fairgrounds in Bluffton.
There will be seven events: Bare-back riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, cowgirl barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding. Plus, stick horse races for children! Call-in date for entries will be Friday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling:800-639-9002.

Ossian Days smoked pork chop dinner Sept. 10
Ossian Revitalization Committee & Ossian Business & Professional Association announce their Ossian Days Thursday, Sept. 10, smoked pork chop dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Ossian Days event tent located downtown Ossian. All proceeds benefit Ossian’s downtown revitalization.
Menu featuring 8 oz. smoked pork chops from Ossian Smoked Meats, baked potato, applesauce, roll, brownie and ice tea or lemonade (dining in), bottled water available with carry out orders. Pick up carry out orders on west side of tent (Craig Street).
Presale tickets are available at Lighted Gardens, National City Bank in Ossian, Ossian Do It Best Hardware, Ossian State Bank, Ossian Town Hall, The Brew Ha! espresso café or committee members Jody Brodie, Lani Mahnensmith, Karen Crane, Eme Detrick, Joel Fremion, Barry Gordon, Larry Heckber, Marlyn Koons, Jan Lipp, Natalie Milholland, Jerry Springer or Jan Williams for $7.50 each. Tickets at the door will be $8.
Also at 6 p.m. the Helen Witte pie auction will be held.
