The Montpelier Historical Society is now taking orders for bricks or rose mountain granite blocks that will comprise the Blackford County Civil War Monument walkway.
There are veterans from as early as the Revolutionary War, Spanish-American War and Civil War who are currently recognized on the walkway, as well as many who served in the wars and conflicts that followed.
The monument and walkway, located on the southwest corner of the Courthouse Square in Hartford City, will instill remembrance of some of our local history for future generations.
Forms are available at the Montpelier Public Library or at Neff Realty Office at 209 West Huntington Street in Montpelier.
Copies of the book Indiana Civil War Veterans, Blackford County, 1861-1865 by Orville Uggen, Jr. are also available. This book includes updated material since its original publication in 2004. Information is available at the locations mentioned above.
