Bake Sale May 5:
Wesleyan Heritage Academy and House of Hope - Hope Academy will hold a bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Simply Chic.

All proceeds will benefit high school students attending the A.C.E. International Convention.

Port-a-Pit Chicken Benefit for Matthew Scott May 6:
A port-a-pit chicken benefit for 15-year-old Matthew Scott will be held Friday, May 6, from 11 a.m. to until the chicken is gone at the Walgreens parking lot in Bluffton.

Proceeds will go for medical expenses for a broken leg. He has no medical insurance. Thrivent Financial is also a sponsor of the benefit.

Rummage & Flea Market May 7 at Hartford City:
A rummage and flea market will be held Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blackford County 4-H Fairgrounds. Anyone interested in setting up can call 765-348-3213.

Free Mushroom Hunting Seminar May 7:
A free mushroom hunting seminar will be presented May 7 at 8 a.m. at Saint John Family Worship Center at 2771 SE Mulberry St. in Vera Cruz.

Farmer's Market May 7:
Farmer's Market will be open May 7 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Dutch Mill Plaza.

Ossian gardening club to meet May 9:
The next meeting of the Ossian Gardening Club is scheduled for Monday, May 9. For more information, contact May Ann Ripperger at 622-4003 or Linda Hambrick at 622-4759.

Coffee Tasting May 9:
The Wells County Public Library’s Good Things Book Club will sponsor a coffee tasting at the Bohemian Bean on Monday, May 9, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be a coffee craft and coffee quiz. Space is limited. Must be registered by May 6 to attend. Sign up at the library, call 260-824-1612 or register online at www.wellscolibrary.org.

Deadline May 10 for Wells County Extension Homemakers summer trip:
The summer three-day trip of Wells County Extension Homemakers will take place June 15-17 departing from the 4-H Park at 6:30 a.m. on June 15. The trip is titled "Wisconsin’s Boats, Bridles, and Bakers.”

The tour includes motorcoach transportation, two nights lodging at Quality Lodging w/baggage handling (1 pc.), 8 meals (3 breakfast, 3 lunches, 2 dinners), and attractions.

Single occupancy costs $575; double, triple and quad cost $499, $475 and $460 respectively.
