Loblolly Marsh Tours available first
Saturdays of month
On the first Saturday of each month from May through September come hike the nature trails of the Loblolly Marsh Wetland Preserve and discover the native plants, flowers and animals that lurk in its muddy waters.
Now Loblolly Marsh Tours are available to the public on the first Saturday of every month from May through September. Amateur naturalists will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Limberlost Cabin, 200 E. 6th St. Geneva, Ind., right along U.S. 27 for orientation. Tours will then head to the Loblolly Marsh from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for special guided hikes with Indiana Department of Natural Resources staff. Admission is $2 per person.

Herbs Friends bus trip reservations due May 23
Herbs Friends Herb Club will sponsor a bus trip to Wildflower Woods Sylvan Lake location of Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site near Rome City June 5.
The bus will leave Decatur Plaza North at 7 a.m. and will return at 6 p.m. that evening. Costs is $50 per person and includes lunch and admission fees. Reservations are needed by May 23. Call Sandy at 724-4061, Mary at 724-5305 or Joanne at 724-9435.
The trip will include three stops: Gene Stratton-Porter site, Quiet Corner Tea Room for lunch and Warsaw Biblical Gardens.
There will be a guided tour of her formal gardens and home.

Browse thousands of bolts of fabric, patterns, books and notions. Then we're off to downtown Shipshewana for lunch and more shopping at you leisure. Leave at 8 a.m. Reservation deadline May 23.

Senior Luncheon May 26
The May Senior Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at noon. The menu consists of baked chicken breast, cheesy potatoes, green beans, roll and butter, assorted pies, lemonade and coffee.
The luncheon will be catered by Norm's Preble Gardens and the cost is $5 per person. The entertainment will be furnished by the Well County Women's Chorus. May birthdays and anniversaries will be acknowledged and door prizes will be given away. Please call 589-8877 to sign up by Monday, May 24.

Join Jay County Community Band
Arts Place is currently accepting registrations for its new Jay County Community Band. All experienced, area band musicians are welcome to join.

Eight Tuesday evening rehearsals beginning Tuesday, May 25 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and culminating in a July 4th concert at the Jay County Fairgrounds.
The band will be directed by Arts Place MusicWorks instructors Emilie Garringer, Kelly Smeltzer, and Pete Vogler. Cost is $25 for the eight week program.

Quilt designer
coming to Bowling Green June 11
Mary Lou Hallenback, quilt designer and owner of H.D. Designs, will be a guest of the Black Swamp Quilt Guild. She will present a trunk show and lecture on Thursday, June 10 and teaching two classes on Friday, June 11. May Lou has been a guest on Alex Anderson's Simply Quilts in an episode called "To the Letter" and her design line and patterns are carried by seven different distributors, including Keepsake Quilting and Nancy's Notions.
The lecture and trunk show will be held at 7 p.m. at the Simpson Building, 1291Conneaut Road, Bowling Green. Over 100 quilts will be shown by the designer. Tickets are $10 for this program.
Two classes will be taught by Mary Lou on Friday, June 11. The morning class, held from 9 a.m. to noon, is called, "Four Patch Stacked Posies". The afternoon class, "Constellation Star" is being taught from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Classes are $35 each and will be held at First Christian Church, 875 Haskins Road (SR 64) in Bowling Green.
The Mary Lou Hallenback program and classes are open to the public. However, tickets are limited for all events. Call Marilyn Riewalt at 419-353-6031 for information or to purchase tickets.

No Free Dinner at Life in May
Life Community Church will NOT be offering a free dinner in May because of the Memorial weekend holiday.

Scholastic Book Fair at the Library
June 1-7
What do Arthur the Aardvark, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Harry Potter, Henry and Mudge have in common? Many of their books will be available at the annual Scholastic Book Fair June 1 – 7 at the Wells County Public Library.
The Scholastic Book Fair is jam-packed with books, posters, games and gift items from over 150 publishers for children, young adults and adults. And remember, for every book sold the library is allowed to select one of equal value to give as prizes for the Summer Reading Program. So by stocking up your at-home library you are helping the WCPL.
