The Wells County Public Library’s Computer Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. and it’s the perfect fit for beginning and advanced users. Bring your laptop or share one of ours. This friendly group shares computer tips, works out problems together, tries new things and brings in locals experts. The next meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Check out some of our recent topics.
· How to copy & paste: Club members discovered there is no mystery to copying and pasting text on the computer.
· Free online games: Games aren’t just for kids. We tried out some of the free games available at Yahoo (http://games.yahoo.com/free-games).
· Take a peek through global webcams: Discussion about streaming webcams around the world such as following the Olympic Torch (www.ctvolympics.ca/torch/follow-torch/index.html)
· Alt + keypad keystrokes : We practiced keystrokes for a variety of hidden symbols such as the degree sign (“°” alt 0176) and the cent sign (“¢” alt 155).
· How to speed up your computer: We looked at Microsoft’s instructions for disc cleanup, how to defrag, clear temporary files and cookies, and other methods for speeding up your computer.
