State historical society’s teacher workshops
The Indiana Historical Society is offering a free one day teacher workshop in preparation for the 2016 State Bicentennial with four dates to chose from.
Teachers will be offered resources and content that will help them to easily integrate Indiana history into their existing curricula. Dates offered are Sept. 9, Sept. 24, Nov. 6 and Nov. 19. The day will include the workshop, lunch, substitute teacher reimbursement, gift card to offset travel expenses, free book and more.

Indy Jazz Fest Sept. 10-19
Indy Jazz Fest 2015 will be held at the historic Madame Walker Theatre near the IUPUI campus where parking will be free.
Groups to perform will include:
Take 6—Saturday, Sept. 12, 8 p.m., $25 to $60, six voices united in crystal clear harmony having won 10 Grammys, 10 Dove awards and 7 Downbeat awards.
Dianne Reeves—Tuesday, Sept. 15, 8 p.m., $25 to $60, jazz vocalist with Peter Martin, Romero Lubambo, Reginald Veal and Tereen Gully.
Jonathan Butler—Friday, Sept. 18, 8 p.m., $25 to $60, a bubbly South African who has released his latest album “Living My Dream.”

Ossian Nazarene 5K Run/Walk Sept. 12
The Ossian Nazarene Church will sponsor at 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Sept. 12 at the church at 302 N. Metts.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The Run/Walk will start at 8:45 a.m. The race will begin and end at the church. Entry fee is $20 for all races and includes a t-shirt if registered online by Sept. 3 at ossiannaz.org.
There will be race divisions for male, female and 18 and under, 19-25, 26-35, 46-55, and 56 and older.
All proceeds will benefit KAIO Ossian Nazarene Youth Ministry.
Toddler music offered by CAC Sept. 14
The Creative Arts Council of Wells County is offering an 8-week toddler music class for children ages 1 1/2 to 4 years of age to be held on Monday mornings, beginning Sept. 14.
The Symphonic Seasons Class will meet from 10 to 10:45 a.m. with instructor Cindy Lemmen at the Arts Commerce & Visitors Centre. Tuition is $4 for one child and $58 for each additional sibling. Each student will receive a CD of music and a rhythm instrument to take home.
Instructor Lemmen has 12 years of experience in teaching the Rhapsody, Rhythm and Rhyme programs.

Harvest Hustle 5K Run & Pancake Breakfast Sept. 26
The Harvest Hustle 5K Run and Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m.
The cost is $15 which includes a T-shirt and a pancake breakfast (race day registration is $20).
No need to go to Fort Wayne, stay in Bluffton Street Fair weekend and run or walk the Harvest Hustle 5K.
