Seeking artists for Portland exhibits
Arts Place in Portland is accepting proposals for its Portland center for exhibit for the main gallery and two smaller galleries. Accepted will be proposals from artists in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana for both 2 and 3 dimensional media for solo and/org group shows.

Proposals are due by July 30, and should include 10 images of recent work completed in the last 2 years, with detailed info (title, medium, dimensions, date completed etc.), description of proposed exhibit, current resume and artists statement.

Germanfest contests in FW
Several events during the Fort Wayne Germanfest are inviting visitors to be participants.
Events will include:
Ferkel Wurst Stuffin—Wednesday, June 10, 1, 5 and 9 p.m., sausage stuffing. Requires check in of two-person teams at information booth one hour prior to event.
Leg ‘N Lederhosen contest—Thursday, June 11, 7:30 p.m., limited to 25 entrants.
Masskrugrenn (Stein Line Race)—Friday, June 12, 4 and 8:30 p.m. Three four person teams compete with sign up one hour before. Must be 21 years of age.
Trauben Tromp (grape stomp contest)—Saturday, June 13, 6 p.m. Three person teams with check in one hour prior to event. Must be 18 years of age.
Polka Like a Star—Saturday, June 13, 7 p.m. Everyone gets a quick lesson with judges eliminating couples until there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

Outdoor music series at Wabash
The free summer music series at the Plaza at the Honeywell Center in Wabash will present Thursday evening concerts from 5 to 8 p.m. through July 2. In the event of inclement weather the performances will be moved inside the nearby Eagles Theatre. Bands playing will include:
June 4 — God’s Country
June 11 — Island Vibe
June 18 — Swampwater Stompers
June 25 — Eye Aint Lion
July 2 — Mississinewa Valley Band presents Patriotic Pops in the Ford Theatre at the Honeywell Center (this concert will begin at 7 p.m.)

Explorer day at FW’s PBS 39 June 6
A full day of free events is being planned for Fort Wayne’s PBS39 Studios, at 2501 East Coliseum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
Events will include a Mascot Parade at 10:30 a.m. with Ryder in addition to free musical performances.
At 1:30 p.m. there will be a magic act by Jim Barron,  fee health and wellness education activities, and a fire department demonstration. Free summer reading packets with book marks, reading charts and posters will be available. For a full schedule of events go online to wfwa,org.

Free Fishing at Ouabache June 6
Ouabache State Park and Bluffton Optimist Club members will sponsor a Fishing Rodeo at Kunkle Lake on Saturday, June 6. Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Fishing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The event is open to all children ages 18 and younger. Prizes will be awarded. 
June 6 and 7 is a free fishing weekend at at state parks in Indiana. Participants do not need a license to fish those days.
