Melody Makers concert at Purdue June 10

Melody Makers of Indiana is a division of Indiana Extension Homemakers Association and on Wednesday,  June 10, they will be presenting a concert at 7:30 p.m. at Elliott Hall of Music on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette.

Melody Makers are comprised of 24 different county choruses, including one from Wells County. Each chorus is a diverse group of volunteer women of all ages. Yearly the groups gather at Purdue to present a Festival Concert of songs that were rehearsed locally all year long.

The local group is directed by Donna Meschberger with Cathy Householder as their accompanist. 

Book launch at FWMA June 11

On Thursday, June 11, poet Helen Frost and photographer Rick Lieder will be appearing at the Paradigm Gallery at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art at a Book Launch Celebration from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The book featuring Frost’s “sensitive verse” and Lieder’s “striking photography” will be celebrated with a pop-up exhibit of Lieder’s photographs from the book and a meet and greet with both artists.

Admission is free and there will be a cash bar.

Current exhibits include : American Brilliant Cut Glass through Dec. 6, Figurative Implications through June 21, Dennis McNett: Legend at the Wolfbat through Aug. 23; and America’s Spirit: Evolution of a National Style through January of 2016.

Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, $20 for families. There is free admission every Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and $1 the last Saturday of every month.

Lions Club Breakfast June 13

The Montpelier Lions Club will sponsor a breakfast Saturday, June 13 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the corner of High and Jefferson Streets.

The breakfast will consist of sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns, juice and coffee. A free will donation will be accepted that day. The event will include “Meet Your Merchants Day” and the club will take used eyeglasses and aluminum cans for recycling.

Night of Healing Prayer June 14

Ossian Nazarenen Church will sponsor a Night of Healing Prayer Sunday, June 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

There will be worship, prayer and anointing of oil offered to anyone who may have a pysical, emotional, spiritual or any ohter need. No one will be turned away.
