Submission deadline is July 24

The Limberlost State Historic Site is having a short story contest, a photography contest and a composition competition. Deadline for submissions is July 24, and there is a $5 entry fee. Please visit indianamuseum.org/limberlost and click on the Special Activities and Events for a full list of submission rules and guidelines. Winners of this contest will see their work read aloud or displayed before a live audience at Limberlost’s Music of the Wild celebration on Sept. 18. Call 260-368-7428.

Chicken and Beef dinner July 25 in Montpelier

Members of the Montpelier Lions Club will sponsor a Chicken and/or beef noodle dinner Sunday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free will donation will be accepted that day. The club is located at High and Jefferson Streets in Montpelier.

Preserving Nature’s Bounty July 27

Learn to preserve foods safely. The Purdue Extension Service in Wells County will conduct ‘Preserving Nature’s Bounty’ workshops to discuss safe home food preservation procedures and to answer the frequently asked questions on canning, freezing, and drying foods.

Workshops are scheduled for: July 27: 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wells County Public Library, Bluffton and Aug. 10: 6:30-8 p.m. at the Wells Community Center at the 4-H Park.
