Friends of the Shelter meeting April 13
Members of Friends of the Shelter will meet Monday, April 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 128 E. Market Street in Bluffton.
The organization  provides support for the Bluffton/Wells County Animal Shelter.
Items on the agenda will include: Shelter operations,  updates on Spay-Neuter clinics and  results of last weeks Dog Bone Hunt.
The meeting is open to the public. For more information call 273-1742.

Annual meeting to feature Conner Prairie historical interpreter April 13
On Monday, April 13, the Wells County Historical Society will hold their annual dinner meeting with special guest Sam Shafer presenting the program.
Shafer, a Norwell High School graduate, is an historical interpreter at the Conner Prairie Interactive History Museum. He will speak on the American Civil War and its impact on Indiana and Wells County.
Reservations are still being accepted for the 6:30 p.m. dinner to be held at the Wells County Public Library at $15 per person. To attend the program only there is a $5 charge.  To make a reservation call 273-1742.

Bluffton Rotary Club Annual Rose Sale underway
The Bluffton Rotary Club annual Rose Sale is currently underway. Cost is $20 per dozen.
Colors available include: red, yellow, pink, peach or white. The order deadline is Tuesday, April 14. Roses can be picked up Tuesday, April 21. Checks can be made out to Bluffton Rotary Club. Form ore information call 260-565-3131 or lee@adamswells.com

National Volunteer Week at Ouabache State Park April 18
Ouabache State Park will host a Trail Maintenance Day on Saturday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m. to celebrate volunteer week and to get the park ready for recreation season.
People interested should bring a pair of work gloves and meet at Ouabache State Park Lodge Recreation Building. Volunteers are to sign in at the main gate.

YWCA Seeking Nominations for 2015 Peggy Hobbs Award
Every year, YWCA Northeast Indiana seeks to honor a community volunteer who embodies the passion, commitment, and dedication of Peggy Hobbs. 
Hobbs is a long-time advocate of YWCA Northeast Indiana, serving as president of the board of directors for three terms and as a volunteer for many years supporting our mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.  
If you know someone (male or female) who deserves this recognition, please visit our website www.ywca.org/PeggyHobbsAward to fill out the nomination form.  
Nominees must demonstrate dedication to volunteerism, promote diversity awareness, personal development, and support for YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.  
They must live in the six-county service area (Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells, and Whitley) to be eligible.  Nominations are due by Tuesday, April 28. Winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting on May 18.
