A traditional candlelight service will be presented at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 at the First United Methodist Church at 325 W. Washington St., Bluffton.
Following the historic format of Lessons and Carols, scripture readings will be alternated with choral and hand bell selections reflecting the spoken word.
The prelude of seasonal music will begin at 9:30 p.m. with Max Stuckey, Director of Music. The featured work this year is “Festival of Carols” by Joseph M. Martin.
Included in the choral offerings will be “Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming,” “Away in a Manger,” and “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.”
Among the familiar bell selections will be: “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Soloists will be Chris Buckland, Bethany Cline, Joe Cline, Bill Goshorn, George Merkle and Deb Schantz. Pastor Cindy will provide scripture reading, alternating with choral and handbell music. The public is welcome to attend
