Collecting suitcases
The Behavior and Recovery Resource Center of Wells County, formerly Mental Health Association, is again accepting used, clean suitcases, backpacks, etc., for Logansport State Hospital. Items can be dropped off at the office at 223 W. Washington Street, Bluffton (courthouse annex across from library) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oktoberfest
Sept. 10-12
The 36th annual Hoagland Oktoberfest will be held Friday, Sept. 10 from 7 to 11 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11 from 2 to 11 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
On Friday entertainment will be provided by Squeezebox with Ted Lange from 7 to 11 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.
On Saturday there will be a hog roast from 3 to 10 p.m., a Silent Auction from 3 to 11 p.m. and entertainment by Musical Brass and The Breakaway Band. Gates open at 2 p.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 12 there will be a chicken barbeque from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and entertainment by Musical Brass and Squeezebox with Ted Lange from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m.
There will be a cornhole tournament, all kinds of dancing and more. Admission is free.

5K/Walk Sept. 11
A 5K/Walk 1.25 Family Dash will be held Saturday, Sept. 11 in Ossian. Registration and packet pickup can be done at Archbold Wilson Park behind Ossian Elementary School. The 5k race will begin at 8 a.m. and the 1.25 Family Dash will start at 9 a.m. Awards will be at 9:30 a.m. Proceeds will be divided among the elementary schools and will help finance fine arts projets. BHS 68th Class Reunion Sept. 11
Members of the Bluffton High School Class of 1942 will hold their reunion Saturday, Sept. 11 at Corner Depot Restaurant in Bluffton. Social hour will begin at 11 a.m. Lunch will begin at noon. Those attending will order from the menu. For more information call RoseMary Richey at 824-1868.

Yankee Peddler
Festival in Ohio
The Yankee Peddler Today Festival and the Yankee Peddler Festival will be held at the Clay’s Park Resort in Canal Fulton, Ohio the weekends of Sept. 11-12, 18-19 and 25-26.
On the weekends of Sept.. 11-12 and 25-26 the featured entertainment will be the Arvel Bird. Other entertainment to include jugglers magicians, strolling musicians, and professional theatrical productions for adults and children and puppet show. Crafts of all kinds. National
Neighborhood Day Sept. 12
Bring your entire family to Kehoe Park Saturday Sept. 12 for a meal and entertainment to celebrate National Neighborhood Day. Dinner starts at 4 p.m. followed by a magician and juggler provided by Sweet Cakes Entertainment. This is a free event sponsored by the Bluffton Parks and Recreation Department.Call 824-6069.

Jacob Sills
Fundraiser Sept. 13
A fundraiser will be held Monday, Sept. 13 at Bluffton Pizza Hut from 5 to 8 p.m. to benefit Jacob Sills, five-year-old son of Toby and Sheila Sills.
Jacob was admitted to Riley Children's Hospital in June 2010 with a seven centimeter tumor on the cerebellum. He is now home and is undergoing various treatments. His mom, Sheila, is a city letter carrier in Bluffton. Proceeds will go toward medical costs. Call Carol Fisher at 260-638-4410.
