Dogs & race cars are the highlight at the WCPL this fall

Wells County Public Library Events:

The One Book, One County community read program, led by the Wells County Public Library, kicked off in August with rave reviews from everyone who is reading this year’s selection, The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. Check out the exciting upcoming events that are set around the theme of the book, dogs and race cars. And be sure to visit the One Book, One County web page at www.wellscolibrary.org for book reviews, video, the latest news, and to join the online discussion. One Book, One County is presented with financial support from the Friends of the Library. Copies of the book are available to loan for free or to purchase ($10).

No registration needed.

Pinewood Derby Races OFF THE BALCONY!

Believe it or not, we are setting up a racetrack that runs from the balcony all the way across the main library for this fun competition (emphasis on “fun”). Register online www.wellscolibrary.org or at the library by 10/8/10. Check in at 9:30 a.m. Racing begins at 10 a.m. Pinewood Derby kits are for sale at the library for only $2 (while supplies last) or use your own Pinewood Derby car. Three divisions: under 12; 12 to 17; 18 and older. First place winners in each division receive $20 in Chamber Bucks. Second place winners win $10 in Chamber Bucks. All racers receive a $1 Library Buck. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the racers!
