Wells Community Theater presents "Godspell"
The cast of “Godspell” is in its final few days of rehearsals for this weekend’s Wells Community Theater production.
The show will be presented at the Life Center at 8 p.m. Friday, June 12; at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 13; and at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14.
Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew and the parables of Jesus, “Godspell” was created by John-Michael Tebelak as a college project in 1970. It was an immediate sensation. It was rescored by Stephen Schwartz (who also wrote the Broadway shows “Pippin” and “Wicked”), the musical moved to off-Broadway in 1971 and hit Broadway in 1976.
“Godspell” remains one of the most popular rock musicals of all time.”
The cast of about 40 includes area actors, singers and dancers of all ages.
