Discovery Crew programs begin at Markle  
Huntington City-Township Public Library will offer Discovery Crew programs this fall at both the Markle Branch in Markle.
Discovery Crew members meet for stories and crafts, sessions last 45-60 minutes.  Through books, Discovery Crew kids will explore different weekly themes and enjoy related books, crafts, games, silly songs, and activities.  Most of all, participants will experience the joys of reading and the fun of learning.
At the Markle Branch Library, 197 E. Morse St., Markle, Discovery Crew sessions will be offered for grades 1 to 4 at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 17 and continuing through Nov. 5.
There is no cost to attend these programs, but registration is required and space is limited.  Stop by or call the Children’s Department at 758-3332. 

Story Time Sessions begin at Markle Library
 Registration for Fall Story Time is underway at the Markle branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library.  
Weekly Story Time sessions will be offered to children ages birth to 7 years at the Markle Branch Library beginning on Sept. 19.
Story Time introduces the child to children’s literature and provides a group experience for the young child, while encouraging listening skills and the development of lifelong reading interests. 
Story Time sessions are offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required.  Parents may come to the library or call to sign their children up for the weekly Story Time session of their choice.
To register for Story Time sessions on Thursdays at the Markle Branch Library, call 758-3332.
The Markle Branch Library is located at 197 E. Morse St. in Markle.

Vintage Base Ball Club to visit  Sept. 18
The Huntington City-Township Library Public will sponsor a visit from Dennis Wiegmann, a member of the Huntington Champion Hill Toppers Vintage Base Ball Club, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Main Library at 255 W. Park Drive, Huntington
Wiegmann will present a program on the history of baseball, both vintage and modern, and the formation of the Huntington Champion Hill Toppers Club. Other team members may also appear to add their viewpoints on the game.

Free Ice Cream Social Sept. 22
The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion will sponsor a Free Ice Cream Social for seniors 55 and older Sunday, Sept. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wellness Pavilion in Berne. 
American Red Cross Blood Drive Sept. 23 in Ossian
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Monday, Sept. 23, from 1:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in the Fellowship Hall, located at 302 N. Metts St. in Ossian. 
To donate call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. 

Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
