Heartland performance Sept. 22
Heartland, the Heartland Festival Chorus and Orchestra, and the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will present Karl Jenkins’ “The Peacemakers” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at the USF Performing Arts Cneter at 431 W. Berry St. in Fort Wayne. This modern oratorio, written in 2012, will bring to life the words of peacemakers like Saint Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther King Jr., Anne Frank, Mother Theresa, the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and others. Tickets are $30 VIP, $20 general admission or $5 for students.

Singles and Separates Support Group Sept. 25
The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion, located at 1201 Emmental Drive in Berne, will offer a support group with Chaplain Mike Wertenberger called Singles and Separates at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. It is for people who are experiencing the loss of a loved one or who have a spouse who is living in long-term care or suffering from dementia or another illness.
Members of the support group will form friendships and bonds with others who are facing similar situations, and gain valuable resources to help rebuild their life. 
The support group will be held the fourth Wednesday of each month. Non Members and members of the Wellness Pavilion are welcome to attend this free support group. 
The topic of the next meeting will be “How to deal with friendships when it is no longer the two of you, just you.” For more information call 260-589-4496. 

Free Senior Movie Sept. 26
The next free movie for seniors will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Wells County Public Library. Free snacks, a 10 minute health info and prizes will be part of the program. The Bluffton Parks and Recreational Department, Wells County Public Library and Bluffton Regional Senior Circle have partnered together to offer this free monthly movie for community seniors 50 years of age and older. Botanical Brown Bag Sept. 26
At 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at Advanced Master Gardener Penny Alles will share everything one needs to know about landscaping in the fall season including information about lawns, flowers, and great clean-up ideas. This class will teach those attending how to get ahead of the game as well as pointing out the benefits a yard will receive for next spring. Tips will be given on when and how to start getting yards debris and waste removed so as not to harbor pests and diseases.

Panos Free Clinic  to honor volunteers Oct. 1
Thanks for Giving” will be the theme for the Panos Free Clinic’s Volunteer Banquet to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Arts Commerce & Visitors Centre. This will be the 22nd year for the group to honor their dedicated group of volunteers who staff the clinic located at 1203 S. Wayne St. in Bluffton each week. Reservations to attend are needed by Sept. 13, to Post Office Box 292, Bluffton, IN 46714.

Star Gazing  Night Rescheduled for Oct. 5
Families are welcome to come out to a Star Gazing event at Lancaster Park (across from Lancaster Elementary School) at 200 E. Jackson St. Saturday Oct. 5 beginning at 7:30 p.m. with the view of the sun through special filters as it sets. This activity is recommended for children age eight and older through adults. Cost is $1 per person due that night. 
The event cancels in poor weather. Lawn chairs and bug spray are recommended. For more information call 824-6069.

Pie-Baking Contest Pre-Registration
Demonstrate culinary talent and raise money for park playground equipment at the same time. Submit an entry in the Harvest Pie-Baking Contest at the fourth Annual Lehman Park Harvest Festival in Berne Saturday, Oct. 5.
Participants shall submit two pies per entry (one may be tart-sized). One will be judged on flavor and one on appearance. Any remaining pie will be sold at the concessions area by the slice.
No entries requiring refrigeration, please! Drop-off times will be available the evening prior to and the morning of the event. Entry fee is $10 and $5 for each additional entry. Proceeds received during the festival benefit the Lehman Park Equipment Fund and will be used to make improvements to the park playground areas.

Craft Bazaar in Fort Wayne Oct. 26
Allen County Fairgrounds Craft Bazaar will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
