Flying Frenzy at Botanical Conservatory Sept 21
On Saturday, Sept. 21 attendees will investigate a different topic with fun and family-friendly experiments, demonstrations, and activities at the Botanical Conservatory in Fort Wayne at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Come explore the science of flight like never before. Build the ultimate flying machine and take it for a test flight. Experiments will be conductred on distance and hang time. Each program lasts 45-60 minutes and is appropriate for ages five and older.  Participants in NISTEM (www.nistem.org) can also earn points for attending. Preregistration is not required and the program is free with regular Conservatory admission.  For more information call 260427-6028.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s  Sept. 21 
Join the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana-Fort Wayne office on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Headwaters Park to Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Registration for the walk will begin at 10 a.m. and the walk will step off at noon from Headwaters Park. Hopes Approximately 1,500 walkers to raise over $219,000 to support programs for individuals and families dealing with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and for research to treat and prevent the disease.  Register for the event by visiting  HYPERLINK “http://www.alz.org” www.alz.org or calling the local office for more information.

Retail Food  Certification Class  Oct. 2 & 9
 Purdue Cooperative Extension Service of Wells County will be offer a Retail Food Certification class on Oct. 2 and 9. for food handlers who need to obtain a Retail Food Certificate.  The sixteen-hour class will take place from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. both days. The exam will be administered at 3 p.m. on Oct. 9.  A photo ID with signature is required to take the exam. The cost of the class with exam is $150. The cost to take the exam only is $50. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 25 in order to receive a textbook and avoid a $20 late fee. Walk-ins will not receive a textbook. English and Spanish exams are available per registration.

Brown County puppet events Sept. 28-Oct. 27
For those heading to Brown County this fall a visit to the Melchior Marionette Theatre in downtown Nashville just might be a fun thing to do in addition to leaf watching and shopping. The group is celebrating the 39th year of being headquartered in downtown Nashville. This fall’s production is titled “The slightly Haunted Puppet Theatre” and will run from Sept. 28 to Oct. 27. 
There are 1 and 3 p.m. performances on the Saturday and Sundays of Sept. 28, 29, Oct. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. Friday performances at 1 and 3 p.m. will be offered on Oct. 11, 18, 25 and on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Admission is $ and free to those age 2 and younger. Shows are 20 minutes in length and pop corn is free. No reservations needed but groups of 10 or more should call ahead to 800-849-4853.

St. Joseph Hessen Cassell Fall Festival Sept. 28

The St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Activities will include a softball tournament, concessions, silent auction, bingo, barbeque chicken dinner, kid’s carnival, beer tent, corn hole tournament and more.  Junk Yard band will play from 8 to 11 p.m. The church is located just south of I-469 on U.S. 27.
