Markle Library sponsors sponsors Paws-to-Read 
program 
 The Paws-to-Read program is being offered by the Markle Branch of the Huntington City-Twp. Public Library to children between the ages of 6–12. Sessions will take place on Saturdays during the months of October and November at 197 E. Morse St., Markle.  
Those interested can call the Markle Branch at 260-758-3332, for more information or to reserve a session for their child. There is no charge for this program.

IPFW’s Omnibus lectures Oct. 23
Two nationally recognized speakers will be brought to IPFW this season in a shortened series due to escalating prices charged by speakers.
The schedule will include:
Wednesday, Oct. 23—Jeannette Walls, best-selling author of “The Glass Castle: Demon Hunting and Other Life Lessons.”
Tuesday Nov. 12—Jim Clifton, CEO of Gallup Inc. and author of “The Coming Jobs War.”
The Omnibus series is sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation and the Dr. Louis and Ann B. Schneider Foundation. All tickets are free.
Tickets for the program will be available three weeks before each event and may be obtained from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Larson Box Office in the Gates Athletic Center. Campus parking is free.

Exhibits at FW’s U of St. Francis till Nov. 8
Artist Tom Keesee will have an exhibit titled “The Untouched Landscape” at the Lupke Gallery at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne from Sept. 28 to Nov. 8.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. Regular gallery hours for the Lupke Gallery located at the North Campus at 2702 Spring St., FW are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday,
Keesee and Dr. Esperanca Camara will present a lecture on techniques and historical context of plein-air painting  on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the North Campus Auditorium 2702 Spring St., FW.

Brown County puppet events in October
For those heading to Brown County this fall a visit to the Melchior Marionette Theatre in downtown Nashville just might be a fun thing to do in addition to leaf watching and shopping. The group is celebrating the 39th year of being headquartered in downtown Nashville. This fall’s production is titled “The slightly Haunted Puppet Theatre” and will run through Oct. 27.  There are 1 and 3 p.m. performances on the Saturday and Sundays of Oct. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 and 27. Friday performances at 1 and 3 p.m. will be offered on Oct. 11, 18, 25 and on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Admission is $ and free to those age 2 and younger. Shows are 20 minutes in length and pop corn is free. No reservations needed but groups of 10 or more should call ahead to 800-849-4853.

ADM and Cub Scout Pack 3149 to collect food Oct. 16
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) and Cub Scout Pack 3149 will work together Wednesday, Oct. 16 to accept and collect non-perishable food items from the public for World Food Day. The ADM truck will be located at the WalMart parking lot in Bluffton. It will be weighed both before and after so that to communicate exact weight collected and donated.  For more than a century, the people of ADM have transformed crops into products that serve vital needs. Pumpkin Dunken Oct. 23
Swim in a pool of pumpkins before deciding which one to take home! 
This Parks Department event is held at the Bluffton Middle School Pool Wednesday Oct 23 at 6:30 p.m. Pre-register is required by calling 824-6069. Admission is $3 each and everyone who swims will get to take home a pumpkin and stay for family swim time until 8 p.m.  Children must come with an adult. Pumpkins were donated by Pumpkin Kingdom.

Model Railroad Show and Swap Oct. 26
The Maumee Valley Railroad Club will sponsor a Model Railroad Show and Swap Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Coliseum Bingo at 911 W. Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne. Admission is $4 for adults, $6 for families and free for children age 12 and younger.
There will be dozens of model railroad bargains with vendors, at least one operating model railroad layout, an on-site concession stand and free parking.

Holiday Arts and Craft Show Nov. 9
Xi Chapter of Delta Theta Tau will sponor the 29th annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jay County Highj School. Admission is $2 per person. Those age 12 and younger are free. A wide variety of craft dealers will set up displays.  Xi Chapter will sponsor a bake sale.  A luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sandwiches and dessert will be available in the afternoon.
