State offers grants to help artists with projects

INDIANAPOLIS — Artists working in dance, theater, literature, music and folk arts can apply for state grants to help them complete their projects this summer.

The Indiana Arts Commission is offering grants of up to $2,000 to individual artists to help them with specific project-related costs. No matching funds are required. Applicants must be ages 18 or older and Indiana residents. Artists may not be enrolled in a degree-granting program.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 14. Projects must be completed between July 1 and June 30, 2012.

The state arts commission says a total of 150 artists applied for the grants last year, and 52 projects received funding.
