The Wells County Public Library will be offering free basic and intermediate computer classes in January and February at the main library. Participants can sign up for just one class or all seven, depending on availability. Classes range from computer basics training, learning Internet, photo editing, creating documents in Microsoft Word, and using the popular social networking site Facebook.
A complete list of classes and times are listed below. Those wanting to attend can register at the library, call 260-824-1612, or online at www.wellscolibrary.org. Classes are free and open to the public. Space is limited, so make sure to sign up as soon as possible.
Computer Basics
Computer Class
Thursday, Jan. 27: 1-2:30 p.m. or 6-7:30 p.m.
This beginning class will cover a general overview of the computer, starting with how to turn it on, using the mouse and keyboard, working with Windows, and basic computer terminology. Great for seniors or those thinking about buying a computer. Also good for people who are self-taught and want to get a basic understanding of computer functions and how they work.
Internet Basics
Tuesday, Feb. 1: 1-2:30 p.m. or 6-7:30 p.m.
Learn about the World Wide Web, how to navigate a Web browser such as Google, and explore the library’s Web site. To get the most out of the class, participants should have Computer Basics training or familiarity with basic mouse, keyboard, and computer functions.
Intermediate Internet
Thursday, Feb. 3: 6-7:30 p.m.
Provides hands-on exercises and goes into more depth about Internet searching. Must have Internet Basics training or good knowledge of the Internet.
Digital Photo Editing
Thursday, Feb. 17: 10-2:30 p.m.
Bring your digital camera, USB port plug, and flash/ thumb drive to save pictures. We’ll go over how to transfer pictures from your camera to the computer, printing, and basic photo editing.
Intro to Microsoft Word
Tuesday, Feb. 22: 1-2:30 p.m.
Participants will get an overview of Microsoft Word 2007, create a simple document, correct spelling, adjust margins, save, print, and open files. Attendees should be able to maneuver the mouse easily to get the most out of this class.
