CAC offers lyrical dance for teens & creative expressions for preschoolers

Ballet director Beth Lampton has announced two new classes now enrolling at the Creative Arts Council School of Ballet. The curriculum is adding Lyrical dance to its schedule under the direction of Amanda Berhalter and Creative Expressions for youngsters 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years of age being taught by Jeni Meeks.
Berhalter grew up in Kettering, Ohio, where she studied ballet and lyrical dance. A graduate of Purdue University, where she majored in English, she is the English/Language teacher at Bluffton High School and the varsity girls swim coach. While at Purdue, she continued her studies in lyrical. ballet, jazz and musical theatre. She was a member of the Higher Grounds Dance Company in which she performed, choreographed and directed several shows.
The new lyrical dance class for teens (12 to 21) is now registering for six Tuesday classes to begin on Feb. 1, at 3:15 p.m. for a tuition fee of $54. Completed registration sheet and payment confirm the dancer’s place in this class.
For the youngsters 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 the six week course in Creative Expressions will meet on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 3, from 4:30 to 5 p.m. with an enrollment fee of $48.
Meeks is a teacher at Southern Wells with a degree from IPFW in education. She has taught at the School of Ballet since 1999 and has performed in many of the stage productions including Copelia, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. She instructs summer dance camps including a technique camp for the Norwell High School Dance Team.
