CHRISTMAS EVENTS AT THE PARKS DEPARTMENT

Santa Letters – This is the last week for your children to write Santa and receive a personalized letter with a gift. Drop off letters at the mailbox on the front steps of the city hall building before noon on Monday Dec 21st. No postage necessary, just make sure the child’s name and address are clearly marked on the outside of the envelope. Free Event

Paws & Claus – Bring your good pets to visit Santa on Wednesday Dec. 16th from 5:30-6:30pm. Area pet vendors will be on hand along with many drawings and door prizes. Bring your own camera or purchase your pictures from the photographer. All pets must be clean and on a leash. Questions?? Call 824-6069.

Winter Wonderland – Families are invited to the City Gym on Thursday Dec 17th from 5-7pm for an evening of fun games, delicious cookies, and a treat from Santa. Bring a camera to capture this special visit with Santa. Free Event

Giant Stocking coloring contest – Stop by the park office (2nd floor of city hall) or visit the website at www.blufftonindiana.net to download the coloring page. Color and turn it in this week for a chance to win a 4 foot stocking stuffed with toys and treats. Coloring pages will be displayed at the winter wonderland on Dec 17th. Free event

Santa’s Workshop – Call the park office at 824-6069 to pre-register for a wood working event. Children ages 5-12 can build and paint a wooden sleigh (makes a great gift). Workshop will be held in the City Gym on Tuesday December 22nd from 3-5pm. Bring a hammer and $4 to purchase the kit.

WINTER EVENTS

Stuff and Fluff Registration begins – January 4th. Ladies bring that special girl in your life for a memorable evening she will never forget. Watch her eyes light up as the two of you make her very own stuffed animal. Simply pick an unstuffed collectible cuddly friend, hand stuff it, wish upon a special star and insert your wish into your animal and zip it closed. Girls can then name their new friend on the birth certificate as we celebrate by decorating cup cakes and making crafts. This event is held February 8th, from 6:30-8pm on the second floor of the city hall. Be sure to wear play cloths since we will also be doing valentine crafts. Cost to participate is $20 per girl. Call 824-6069 to register and pick out your animal.

Daddy Daughter Disco Ticket Sale – Gentlemen dig out your polyester leisure suit and hurry on down to the City Clerk Treasurer’s office in City Hall to purchase your tickets starting Jan 5th. This super-groovy dance is held on Sunday Feb 21st from 6-8pm at the Wells County 4-H. Enjoy an evening of music, refreshments, door prizes, photos and treat bags. Dress for this event is theme based or dressy. The price for a couple is $10 (3.00 each additional daughter).

Adult Learn to Sew Class – Learning to sew is a great skill that can save you money on clothing repairs and give you enjoyment creating personal gifts for family and friends. Kathy Gehrett will instruct a “hands on” beginner’s sewing class to teach the fundamentals of hand and machine sewing. Classes will be held on Tuesdays Jan 12, 19, and 26th from 1-3pm on the second floor of the City Hall. Cost for the 6 hours of small group lessons are $20 due the first day. Call the park office to pre-register at 824-6069. Class size is limited and the first project will be a simple tote bag.

Hooked on Crochet – Learning to crochet will give you a lifetime of pleasure and relaxation. You can learn to create handmade items for yourself and people you know. Classes will be taught by Kathy Gehrett on Tuesdays Jan 12, 19, & 26th from 3-4pm on the second floor of the City Hall building. Cost for 3 hours of group lessons are $10 due the first day. Yarn and instructions will be provided and you will need to bring a size H hook. Call the park office to pre-register at 824-6069. Class size is limited and open to beginners and advance students.

Science Central Star Lab Program – The night sky has followed you your whole life. It may be the only thing your distant ancestors would recognize today. How much of it do you recognize? Take a journey through our Milky Way with your budding astronomer in the portable star lab that will visit the city gym on Sunday Jan 24th from 6:30-8pm. Families will need to call in advance to schedule a time with the educator at 824-6069. This is a free event.
