April Showers Bring Stuff To Do

Garage sale at Celina will be held April 2-7
The Senior Citizen Center in Celina will sponsor a garage sale April 2 through April 7 at 217 Riley St., Celina, just north of the swimming pool.
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week, Thursday evenings until 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. For more information call 419-586-1644.

Thursday night bingo slated April 2, 9, 16, 23
The South West Conservation Club, located at 5703 Bluffton Road, will sponsor Thursday Night Bingo April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Warm-ups will begin at 6 p.m. Regular Bingo will start at 7 p.m.

Zanesville Lions Club
Easter Egg Hunt April 4
Zanesville Lions Club free Easter Egg Hunt, for children age 0-14, will be held rain or shine at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the Zanesville Lions Community Park.
Following the hunt, there will be kids' games inside the building. Tickets cost 25 cents each with a prize every time.

Mushroom program offered on April 4
The Upper Wabash Interpretive Services is gearing up for the mushroom season with a program Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The program will include an informative talk, taste of mushroom bread and a hike to scout for mushroom habitat clues. Participants will also receive a book. Cost is $10 per person. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required by calling 260-468-2127.

Tri Kappa's Game and Trivia Night is April 4
Tri Kappa will host a Game and Trivia night Saturday, April 4 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Camelot in Vera Cruz. The location is being donated by owners Don and Mary Ann Bricker.
Join friends for an evening of Wii, cards and trivia. All-you-can-eat appetizers and cash bar will be provided. Door prizes will be awarded and a silent auction of donated items will be available.
Tickets are $10 per person from a committee member or by calling Jackie Chaney at 824-5277 or Patty Makowski at 273-0359. Proceeds go to funding for charity, culture and educational needs in the community.

IFB's Spring Family Seminar set April 14
The Indiana Farm Bureau's District IV Spring Family Seminar will be held April 14 at the Lehman Park Pavillion at 212 Park Ave., Berne.
Registration will be held at 6 p.m. The welcome and table grace will take place at 6:30 p.m.
Helen Witte, District IV Woman Leader, will give the opening remarks and introductions. The program will be given by John and Jane Cheesewright of Vermillion County.

Easter Bunny Express will roll on April 11
CONNERSVILLE — The Whitewater Valley Railroad will sponsor the Easter Bunny Express Saturday, April 11 for children and families to ride the train to Bunny Patch Sattion to visit the Easter Bunny.
Cost is $9 for ages two and older. The fare includes the round trip train ride and egg hunt for children ages eight and under.
The train will depart Connersville's Grand Central Station at 10 a.m., 12:01 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Hunter Education Course April 13-15
The dates for the Hunter Education Course are April 13, 14 and 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wells Community 4-H Building.
The course is offered at no charge. Instructors will be ICO Kenny Wireman, Darrell Reynolds, Mike and Jodi Pinkerton, Rich Falk, Rick Bergman and Tracy Myers.

Jackson Township H.S. alumni event is April 18
The annual Jackson Township High School alumni banquet will be held Saturday, April 18 at Southern Wells High School. Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m.
All former students, teachers and staff are welcome to attend the event. The classes of 1939, 1949 and 1959 will be honored.

Children’s group to sing at Arts Place April 25
PORTLAND — The Colorado Children’s Chorale will perform at Arts Place’s Portland Center at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Hall-Moser Theatre as part of the Arts Place 2008-09 Performance Series, That’s Entertainment.

River Dance Company will present Stand
Finishing touches are being put on for the current production by the River Dance Company at the Family Life Center of Central Church at State Road 37 in Woodburn Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 3 at 6 p.m. The event is free. A free will offering will be taken.
Forty-six dancers, age five through adults from nearly 20 area churches will present “Stand," a combination of dance, testimony, music and lighting.

Annual CycleFest in Auburn on May 16
AUBURN — Some 1,200 motorcycles will roar into Auburn Saturday, May 16. The 13th annual event includes a parade through Auburn, a poker run, a Peoples' Choice Bike Show, a bike rodeo, a burn-out cage, and commercial vendors. Good food, a beer garden, and great music will be available.
The event will take place at the Kruse Auction Park, located east of I-69 at CR 11-A.

Kid's Fishing Derbies will be held on June 6
Children ages two to 14 are welcome to participate in on of the Fishing Derbies at the three Upper Wabash Reservoirs — Roush Lake, Salamonie Lake, and Mississinewa Lake — June 6 during the statewide Free Fishing Weekend. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with fishing from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Award ceremonies will follow.
Children will be divided into age catagories two to five, six to 10 and 11 to 14. Each child will go home with a prize. Children should pre-register for the free events by callling 260-468-2127.

WILD training class will be held on June 20
The Upper Wabash Inerpretive Service will sponsor Project WILD training workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 20 at Salamonie Reservoir's Interpretive Center. There is a $2 per person fee.
During the workshop home educators and leaders will take home two books full of well-researched and easy to use indoor and outdoor learning activities about wildlife and the environment to use with their youth.
