Jesters to perform original stage play at USF, March 5 & 6

An original stage play, “Takin’ Time,” will be performed by the University of Saint Francis Jesters, on March 5 & 6, at the university’s north campus Auditorium, 2702 Spring St., Fort Wayne.
The Jesters are a group of 36 special needs people ages 12 to 47. The program was started in 1978 at the USF with the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities by engaging them in recreational opportunities to promote creative expression and positive social interaction. Over the years some of the performers have been from Wells County.
This year’s story is told through music, dance, theatre and visual arts. It will include a range of percussion instruments and two stage-size chimes custom-designed and built for the Jesters.
The script includes opportunities for individual Jesters to tell stores of their own lives and use improvisational structures and theater games learned through guest artist residencies hosted during the all of 2010.
The Saturday performance begins at 6 p.m. and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 and for more information call the School of Creative Arts at 260-399-7700, ext. 8001.
