Give-a-ways, drawings, used book sale & Fine Free Friday
Kindness will be overflowing at the Wells County Public Library during Random Acts of Kindness Week, Feb. 16-20.
The library is closed on Monday for President’s Day but activities beginning bright and early on Tuesday with daily give-a-ways. Patrons checking out items will receive a different give-a-way gift each day including candy, flowers, cookies and library bucks good toward video rentals, copies or used book purchases. And while at the library, be sure to register for a chance to win a gift basket door prize.
Donations for the World Relief International Relief Agency for efforts in Haiti will be collected in a coin jar at the front desk throughout the week. Adults, teens and children are encouraged to share what they can. All proceeds go towards disaster relief.
The library’s annual Friends of the Library Winter Used Book Sale begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday during regular library hours. The Friends of the Library members-only pre-sale is Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. Not a member? Why not stop by the library today to join so you can enjoy the pre-sale too?
Be sure to take advantage of the library’s kindliest act: Fine Free Friday on Feb. 19. If you have a library item at home with an overdue fee, hand it directly to a librarian at the front desk and the fine will be “forgiven” (damaged items not included). Remember, the item (s) must be handled through a staff member and not just dropped into the return box. Feel free to call 260-824-1612 with questions.
And while you’re at the library, be sure to sign up for the Winter Reading Program. The program runs through the month of February and there are challenges for adults, teens and children. Just completing the simply challenges earns you a free book to keep for yourself or to donate to a local school library.
