Indiana exhibits tour the state
Two Indiana Historical Society’s exhibits will be touring the state during the next two years.
From Pencils to Pixels: Hoosier Cartoons and Comics will be in our area from Oct. 2-27.
The Great War: From Ration Lines to the Front Lines will be at the Peabody Public Library in Columbia City from Nov. 3-Dec. 7 and at The History Center in Fort Wayne Jan. 30-Feb. 29, 2016.
The From Pencils to Pixels will celebrate the wide variety of illustrated art produced by Hoosiers for more than a century. From biting political satires and social commentary to beloved comic strips and cartoon characters created for children, artists from Indiana have been major players in the medium.
The Great War exhibit is just in time to commemorate that centennial of this pivotal chapter of American history. It will commemorate the contributions of Hoosiers, both on the battlefield and at home, while exploring the stories of soldiers and war workers, those who contributed to the war effort through manufacturing and local efforts to raise funds and support for the cause, and how the politics of the war affected Hoosier communities.

The Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a Homemade Card Class Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall in Bluffton.
