Warren Church of Christ to kick off Revival Month Nov. 3
Warren Church of Christ retired minister Gerald Moreland and current minister Ethan Stivers will hold a special service scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3 to kick off Revival month at the church at 9:30 a.m. at 302 N. Wayne Street in Warren.
The ministers have announced that if attendence tops 225 people the two current and two past ministers and others will ride 18 miles to First Church of Christ in Bluffton. While on the ride they will pray for the Nov. 17th revival.  Once they arrive at the church in Bluffton they will pray with the revival leader (Larry Sprinkle, minister at First Church of Christ.  
After the church service and before the big bike send off of there will be a church carry-in lunch. Those attending should bring a dish to share. Drinks and table service will be provided.

Soup and baked potato supper Nov. 9
The 17th annual soup and baked potato supper will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nine Mile United Methodist Church. Supper is sponsored by the Heavenbound Sunday School Class. The church is located at 6303 Winters Road, just off Indianapolis Road, and is handicap accessible.
The menu features a choice of soup (chili, chicken noodle, creamy potato, or vegetable), baked potato with a choice of toppings (sour cream, chives, bacon bits, cheeses, broccoli, and croutons), dessert, salad and drink. Cost is a free-will offering. Profits will be used to assist the missions and trustees’ fund.

Lighted Gardens Craft Show and Sale Nov. 9
A Craft Show and Sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lighted Gardens, 10704 N. State Road 1, Ossian. There will be 45 vendors on hand. Items include original artwork, one-of-a-kind items, handmade crafts and holiday gifts. 

Free parking and restrooms are available. Concessions, lunch, pastries and baked goods by Lighted Gardens can be purchased that day. Located one mile north of Ossian on State Road 1 or 4.1 miles south of the I-469 and State Road 1 interchange. (Pd. Advt.)

Parks Department 12 Days of Christmas gifts events
Join the first installment of the 12 Days of Christmas Class Thursday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Bluffton City gym. The event is sponsored by the Bluffton Parks and Recreation Department.
Participants will get to create three handmade gifts with a coordinating bag or tag for $5 and/or they may also create three handmade greeting cards for $5. 
Use the city hall entrance at the glass door on the WEST side of the building next to bank. 
Pre-registration is required to have an adequate supply of materials. Children age 8 and older may attend and/or participate with a paid adult. Call 824-6069.

Toddler event Nov. 5
The Parks Department has announced the next special toddler event as a tour of the post office scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5. 
Meet in the Bluffton city gym at 11 a.m. The group will walk over to the post office around 11:15 a.m. This is a FREE event. Also, the gym is now open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon for kids to run and play in. FREE  Questions call 824-6069.

Craft Bazaar and Cookie Walk Dec. 7
Lifeway Wesleyan Church Craft Bazaar and Cookie Walk will be held Dec. 7 from 8:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. at 7722 Moeller Road in Fort Wayne.
Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase. 
Cost of the Cookie walk  is $7 per box. Proceeds will  benefit the youth mission trip during the summer of 2014.
There will be homemade crafts and a door prize raffle.

Warren Annual Holiday Walk and Festival of Trees Nov. 22
Historic Warren, an Indiana Main Street initiative, will host its second annual Holiday Walk and Festival of Trees on Friday, Nov. 22, from 5-7:30 p.m. 
All area businesses and churches have been invited to open their doors for fun, friendship and fellowship. The Holiday Walk involves people visiting area businesses and churches for a light refreshment and activities and incentives, including a live reindeer, puppet shows, horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, and the opening night of “Narnia” at the Pulse Opera House.
At the same time, the Festival of Trees will be held with guests visiting trees decorated by area businesses, clubs, church groups and individuals.  
There will be three categories of tree judging: Adult organization/business; Youth Organization and Individual or Family.
Each winner will receive $50 in Warren Chamber Bucks and monetary donations raised from the voting will be given to the Warren Ministerial Association.

Holiday Bazaar and Book Fair Nov. 8
An annual Holiday Bazaar and Book Fair will be held at Swiss Village Retirement Community Friday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  
A variety of handcrafted items will be available including: baskets, candles, woodcrafts, jewelry, ceramics, holiday décor, greeting cards, doll clothing, baby quilts, wreaths, floral arrangements, and bottle art.  Along with items made by Swiss Village Residents, several craft vendors from the local community will also be attending the event.
For a nominal fee, a light lunch and supper will be served in the Café Suisse. In addition to the craft bazaar, a Holiday Book Fair by Books Are Fun will be held Friday, Nov. 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Open Gym and Weekday Walkers underway
Open Gym with supervised activities in the Bluffton City Gym for school-aged kids will begin Oct. 1. All participants MUST fill out a parental permission slip.

Days and hours can vary, but calendars are available to students to take home. Most days are 3:30 to 6 p.m. FREE.
Also, Weekday Walkers is underway. Those interested can walk indoors out of the weather in the Bluffton City gym Monday through  Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Enter the glass door on the west side of the city hall. No membership or cost to participate. Drop in program.

Trunk & Treat at First Church of Christ Oct. 31
Members of the First Church of Christ will sponsor a Trunk and Treat event Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at 909 W. Spring St.
There will be a ton of treats and a special surprise. The event will be held indoors. The public may attend.

Noodle Dinner Nov. 3 in Montpelier
A Noodle Dinner, featuring chicken or beef with all the trimmings, will be held Sunday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Montpelier Lions Club located at High and Jefferson Streets.
Eat-in or carry out that day with a free will donation.

Home Town Christmas Celebration Dec. 7 in Montpelier 
A Home Town Christmas will be on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Montpelier Civic Center from noon to 3 p.m.
There will be food, crafts and other vendors.  There will also be entertainment by local youth. Show Time Dance Academy will have a performance. Santa will be on hand from 1-2 p.m.  There will be a Best Cookie contest for adults and children with prizes. A Christmas tree decorating contest with local business.
There will be door prizes, cookies and hot chocolate.  This is a free event to the public. Doors will open to vendors at 9:30 a.m. Open to the public at noon.

Ouabache State Park in Bluffton will offer trick or treating on Saturday Oct. 26 from 5-6 p.m. in the campground.

Woodcarver’s show Oct. 26-27
On the weekend of Oct. 26-27 the 27th Annual Woodcarver’s Show and Sale will be held at Sauder Village in Ohio.
Special guest for the event will be internationally known woodcarver  Rick Jensen from Minnesota. Wes Linenkugal and his band will be on hand to perform at 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

‘Just a Bunch of Potters’ annual show Nov. 1-3
Thirteen area potters will get together for the once a year event of “Just a Bunch of Potters Show and Sale to be held the weekend of Nov. 1-3 at the North Pointe Woods Club House, in Fort Wayne.
A Friday night reception on Nov. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. will kick the event off. Shopping hours on Saturday and Sunday will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The newest work in clay in a variety of price ranges will feature mugs, bowls, plates, vases, wall pieces and tiles.
Potters participating in the no admission charged event will be Kimberly Rorick, Kristy Jo Beber, Steve Vachon, Sue Davis, Mary Lieberman-Brandt, Jean Barile, Cynthia Ballinger, Diane Robinson, Doug Phillips, Joseph Pelka, John and Angie Platt. Dining with  Diabetes class begins Nov. 4
A special “Dining with Diabetes” class, sponsored by the Purdue Extension of Adams County and the Adams Memorial Hospital, will be held on the four Mondays of November from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the hospital. The class will look at better choices of food for diabetics so they can stabilize their blood sugar while eating food that is both nutritious and tasty.
AMH dietician Kris Bischoff will lead power point discussions during the class and will talk about portion sizes, calorie content, proteins, and carbohydrates of the food. 
Class members will be able to select portions of the food prepared by Manuel during the class and at each class food will be selected so that persons can group together a proper meal for a diabetic ranging from an entrée with protein to sides, to desserts. Cost of the four-class session is a one-time charge of $25 per person or $40 for two persons attending together.
Manuel will be providing numerous recipes for the persons to take home with them as part of the class.

Singles and Separates, a support group with Chaplain Mike Wertenberger, will meet at the Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion in Berne Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. Featured guest speaker will be Marcia (Von Gunten) Cressman. 
Members of the support group will form friendships and bonds with others who are facing similar situations, and gain valuable resources to help rebuild their life. Non members and members of the Wellness Pavilion are welcome to attend this free support group.

Holiday Arts and Craft Show Nov. 9
Xi Chapter of Delta Theta Tau will sponsor the 29th annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jay County High School. Admission is $2 per person. Those age 12 and younger are free.
A wide variety of craft dealers will set up displays.  Xi Chapter will sponsor a bake sale.  A luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Sandwiches and dessert will be available in the afternoon. Proceeds from the show will be used to fund the many philanthropic projects Xi Chapter contributes to in the community throughout the year.

IPFW Women Chicago Trip Nov. 9
The Association of Indiana University–Purdue University (IPFW) Women will sponsor a trip to Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 9. The bus will drop off passengers at four stops:
• The Museum of Science and Industry
• The Field Museum of Natural History
• Macy’s on State Street in the Loop
• Water Tower Place Shopping Center on Michigan Avenue, near Saks Fifth Avenue and Crate and Barrel.
The bus driver will select a single meeting place in Chicago for the return trip.
The group will leave from IPFW at 7 a.m. for Chicago and will return to Fort Wayne at approximately 10 p.m. There is a brief rest stop planned for each way. Pick-ups and drop-offs in Warsaw can be arranged as needed.
The cost is $40 per person, which includes transportation and a $5 donation to the scholarship fund of the Association of IPFW Women. Passengers must arrange for their own meals.  Registrations will be accepted until the bus is filled, based on a paid first-come, first-served basis. Full payment is required at the time of registration. Only checks or money orders are accepted as payment.

Cooking Class begins Nov. 11
The Parks Department is now accepting registration for their upcoming cooking class on how to make the perfect pie.  Class is scheduled for Monday Nov. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the Culinary Arts room at Bluffton Middle School (enter door 9).  Cost is $10 due that night. Everyone will make a pie to take home. Call 824-6069 to pre-register. Space is limited.

Cake Decorating Class begins Nov. 12
The Bluffton Parks Department is now accepting registration for the next cake decorating class. 
Learn pipe icing to make beautiful cakes and keep all of the supplies. Call 824-6069 to register (space is limited). 
Class is held on the first floor of the city hall building on Tuesday Nov. 12 from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $10 and is due the night of the class.  Those attending should bring a spatula and a cookie sheet to practice on.

Christmas Shopping Nov. 23 
A Christmas Shopping Day Trip has been planned to Nashville, Indiana and the Edinburgh Outlet Mall Saturday, Nov. 23. Cost is $49 per person.

Theater Thursday Oct. 17
The next free movie for seniors is Thursday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Wells County Public Library.
 The Bluffton Parks and Recreational Department, Wells County Public Library and Bluffton Regional Senior Circle have partnered together to offer a free monthly movie for adults. 
There will be free snacks, a 10 minute health info session and prizes.

Firefighter Pancake and Sausage Breakfast Oct. 19
Members of the Bluffton Fraternal Order of Firefighters will sponsor a Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, Saturday, Oct. 19 from 6 to 11 a.m. at the Bluffton Fire Department. 
Cost is $5 per adult. Kids ages five and younger are free.

Card Making Class Oct. 21
The Parks Department is offering a seasonal card making class on Monday, Oct. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at city hall.  Cost is $5 to make three cards. To register call 824-6069 or message us your name and e-mail address.

Pumpkin Dunken Oct. 23
Swim in a pool of pumpkins before deciding which one to take home! 
This Parks Department event is held at the Bluffton Middle School Pool Wednesday Oct 23 at 6:30 p.m. Pre-register is required by calling 824-6069. 
Admission is $3 each and everyone who swims will get to take home a pumpkin and stay for family swim time until 8 p.m. 
Children must come with an adult. Pumpkins were donated by Pumpkin Kingdom.
Trick or Trunk at SW School Oct. 26
A Trick or Trunk event will be held at the Southern Wells School parking lot, Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Kids come in their costumes and go from trunk to trunk for games, treats and goodie bags. A light meal will be provided free of charge! The event is sponsored by Southern Wells Community Church. Call 765-728-2154 with any questions. 
This event will be canceled in case of rain.

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball to begin Nov. 4
Adult Co-Ed Volleyball Leage will start on Monday evenings beginnig Nov. 4 and will run for 10 weeks. 
Teams must have at least two men and two women on the court at all times. Total cost for the season is $178.

Toddler event Nov. 5
The Parks Department has announced the next special toddler event as a tour of the post office scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5. 
Meet in the Bluffton city gym at 11 a.m. The group will walk over to the post office around 11:15 a.m. This is a FREE event. 

Also, the gym is now open every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon for kids to run and play in. FREE. Questions call 824-6069.

Dan’s Fish and Chicken Fry Oct. 24
Members of Liberty Center Methodist Church will sponsor a Dan’s Fish and Chicken Fry Thursday, Oct. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Liberty Center Methodist Fellowship Hall. Ticket in advance are $8.50 for adults and $5 for children ages six through 12. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $5.50 for children ages six through 12. Children age five and younger are free. Proceeds will go to missions.

Trick or Trunk at SW School Oct. 26
A Trick or Trunk event will be held at the Southern Wells School parking lot, Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Kids come in their costumes and go from trunk to trunk for games, treats and goodie bags. A light meal will be provided free of charge. 
The event is sponsored by Southern Wells Community Church. Call 765-728-2154 with any questions. This event will be canceled in case of rain.

St. John Lutheran Bake Sale, Lunch and Bazaar Oct. 27
Members of St. John Lutheran Church in Decatur will sponsor a Bake Sale, Lunch and Bazaar Sunday, Oct. 27 beginning at 10:30 a.m. During the event, lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include Swiss steak, chicken breast and gravy. Cost is $7.50 for adults, $3 for children ages six to 12 and free for those ages five and younger. A drive through will be available.
The church is located on U.S. 27 South in Decatur.

Stamp Collecting Show Nov. 2 & 3
The Anthony Wayne Stamp Society will host a Stamp Collecting Show Nov. 2 and 3 at Concordia Lutheran High School at 1601 Saint Joe River Road in Fort Wayne. Ten stamp dealers will be on hand to serve the public and to help with questions about the hobby. Hours on Saturday, Nov. 2 are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours on Sunday, Nov. 3 are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free parking and admission.

Missionary Church to hand out free hats  Oct. 19
Members of the Murray Missionary Church’s outreach program, Nifty Knitters, will hand out hats to anyone who needs one for the winter Saturday, Oct. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. at WalMart in Bluffton.
The hats are free. No donations needed. The hats are made fit anyone from newborn age to the elderly.

Rummage and Flea Market Oct. 19
The Blackford County 4-H Fairboard will sponsor a Rummage and Flea Market Sale Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blackford County 4-H Fairgrounds in Hartford City.
Profit food vendors must have a county health department permit to participate.

Callithumpian Quilt Show Oct. 26 & 27
The 12th annual Callithumpian Quilt Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at Riverside Center in Decatur. Approximately 200 quilts will be on display. 
Members of the public can share their quilts and quilted items by entering them in the show at no charge. Categories include: Pieced, Mixed Technique, Miscellaneous, Garments, Quilts Made by Kids and Wall Hangings..
Those wanting to enter their quilts need to bring them to the center on Friday, Oct. 25 between 1 and 5:30 p.m. The items may be picked up Sunday, Oct. 27 between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Security is provided.

BBQ and Military Vehicle Show Oct. 12 in Portland
The Museum of the Soldier in Portland will sponsor their annual BBQ Chicken Dinner and Military Vehicle Show Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. -7 p.m. at 510 E Arch Street, Portland.
This event will feature a meal, access to view historical vehicles, living history enthusiast, the chance to meet veterans, friends, entertainment and more.
Tickets are $8 per person and must be purchased in advance. The chicken dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m.

Free Family Fun Day at Embassy Theatre Oct. 13
The Embassy Theatre and ECA are co-sponsoring a free movie day in celebration of ECA’s 60 years and the community’s support.

Aurora Theater shooting survivor to speak Oct. 17
On Oct. 17 at 6 p.m., The Rescue Mission will hold its Annual Celebration Banquet at the Landmark Conference Centre in Fort Wayne. 2013 marks The Rescue Mission’s 110th year of serving the needy and changing lives in the Fort Wayne community.
This year Aurora, Colo. theater shooting survivor, Pierce O’Farrill, will be the keynote speaker. O’Farrill, age 29, still has shotgun pellets in his chest and a bullet lodged in his arm. 
Proceeds from the event will go toward provision of comprehensive security systems at the Mission to help ensure the safety of our residents, staff, volunteers and community.  Tickets are still available but seating is limited. Kinder Haus BBQ Chicken Dinner Oct. 18

Ossian Mum Walk Oct. 12
Tom and Mary Lou Woodward of Ossian will host the annual Mum Walk at their home located at 301 North Highland Ave. in Ossian Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m.
They have eight landscaped acres right in the town of Ossian. It features hundreds of Chrysanthemums of different varieties. Some are from the University of Minnesota, King Cascading, Yoder, Belgian Mums, including football, hardy, perennial, garden mums and more. 
The Woodward’s gardens have been featured in the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette, as well as the publication, Home-Indoor & Outdoor Living.  The Walk is free and open to the public. Tom is a Master Gardener, who grows many types of perennials as well as annuals. 

Free salad and dessert bar  Oct. 12

Saturday Night at The Village Oct. 12
Swiss Village will present fun, free entertainment druing Saturday Night in the auditorium  Oct. 12 from 7 to 8 p.m  Residents and guests will enjoy entertainment by Trinity. This gospel singing group has been sharing God’s word through song since 1982.  Saturday Night at the Village is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. Friends of the Shelter meeting Oct. 14

Fall party at FWMA on Oct. 18
Celebrate the arts at the Fort Wayne Museum of At on Friday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will feature the Zealous Sounds of The Orange Opera and there will be seasonal tastes by Three Sixty plus a cash bar. Admission is $12 ($5 for museum members).
Among the exhibits is Clay Prints: Image, Surface, and Narrative in Contemporary Ceramics featuring artists Paul Andrew Wandless and Thomas Lucas.

Gallery hop in FW Friday, Oct. 18
On Friday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 10 p.m. downtown Fort Wayne will be the site of a gallery hop featuring seven art galleries. Galleries to be open will be 3R Gallery, Artlink, Castle Gallery, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Hedgehog Press, Lotus Yoga Wellness Gallery and PottersWife Gallery. No ticket is needed to participate. Some locations may have an admittance fees.
A map of the sites will be available the evening of the event at any of the sites. A suggested starting point wold be the FW Museum of Art.

Three Rivers Gem and Mineral Show Oct. 18-20
The 52nd annual Three Rivers Gem, Mineral, Jewelry and Fossil Show and Sale will be held Friday, Oct. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 20 at  the Allen County 4-H Fairgrounds in the Home and Family Arts Building. Hours are Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Activities include panning for minerals (weather permitting), walk through a Fluorescence Room, working demonstrations, how to do a Viking Chain knit, door prizes and special kids activities.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for those age 55 and older, $1 for high school students and free for those age 12 and younger. There is also free parking.

Bluffton Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays
The Farmer’s Market is open at the Dutch Mill Plaza (Main Street at the bridge) on Wednesdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Current features include baked goods, fresh roasted coffee, red beets, potatoes, kohlrabi, herbs, creative cards, wood ornaments, puzzles, and more. (Pd. Advt.)

Great Pumpkin Hunt Oct. 12
The Bluffton Parks Department will sponsor The Great Pumpkin Hunt Saturday Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. Those attending should bring their entire family and a flash light to Lancaster Park (across from Lancaster Elementary school) for some Halloween egg hunting fun. 
Children will be divided in age groups and each group will have a special prize to the child who can find the great pumpkin. 
Afterwards enjoy roasting s’mores and a hayride. Be sure to bring a blanket if the weather is cool. 
Hunt starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before to have time to park and walk to the field. FREE EVENT. 

Historical Society Fall Meeeting Oct. 14

The Wells County Historical Society Fall meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at the museum. Guest speaker will be Joe Smekens. He will talk about his book “Window of Wells County.” Those attending will also have the chance to see the new look of the museum with the many improvements that were made this summer. Refreshments will be served. The meeting is open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help defray the costs of the improvements.
