GOP Headquarters open during Street Fair
The Wells County GOP Headquarters will be open during Street Fair Week, Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Stop in to visit or to register to vote. Also visit our booth in the Industrial Tent.
The Wall that Heals coming to IWU Sept. 19-23
The Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the original memorial in Washington, D.C., is coming to Marion Sept. 19 and can be seen at the intersection of Ind. 37 and 50th Street in front of the Indiana Wesleyan University Adult Education campus and will be open to the public. Admission is free.
The names on the replica are listed alphabetically by day of casualty. Beginning at the center, the names start on the right-hand side and go toward the left-hand side.
Since the wall will be open 24 hours a day, volunteers are needed to help search the wall for names and overnight volunteer security. Help is needed Tuesday, Sept. 18, and Sunday, Sept. 23 for set up and tear down of the wall. Those interested in helping can call Larry Richardson at 765-662-9931 or lrichardson@marionindiana.us.
Bake Sale in Montpelier Sept. 21
Members of the Montpelier Friends of the Library will sponsor a bake sale Friday, Sept. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at Pacesetter Bank of Montpelier.
I Wear Pink on the Square event Sept. 21
I Wear Pink on the Square will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in front of the pink fountain at Freimann Square in Fort Wayne to support survivors and supporters of breast cancer patients. Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center and Francine’s Friends will be on hand with helpful information.
On Sunday, Sept. 23 there will be an I Wear Pink Inaugural Ride. It will begin at Lucky Harley Davidson on Illinois Road in Fort Wayne and will end with festivities at the Fort Wayne Memorial Coliseum. A portion of the $20 registration fee will be donated to Parkview Comprehensive Cancer Center. For more information call Jerry Giesler at 260-483-0584.
