Looking for artists
The Parks Department is looking for local artists to participate in upcoming art/craft bazaars.  
The department will offering two art shows for the price of one. 
On Saturday Aug. 23 there will be a luau beach block party in front of City Hall. The streets will be blocked off the parking lot will be filled with sand for families to come and play in. An Island Breeze concert will be held from 5-8 p.m. Games, food and fun activities will be included. It is anticipated that there will be a large crowd to this event. Artists are invited to display their homemade merchandise during the festivities.
The second Art and Craft show will be the Saturday of Street Fair from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 20 in the City Gym. Tables will be provided. 
To participate in both of these events there is a one-time fee of $10. 
At the Luau Beach block party artists participating will need to provide their own tables and tents. It is encouraged for artists to wear and/or decorate their area in a tropical theme if possible. For more information e-mail at parks@ci.bluffton.in.us or call 824-6069 to reserve a spot.

Discovery Corner: ABC’s and 123’s during August
During August in the Discovery Gallery at the Botanical Conservatory young visitors can enjoy stories and activities behind Woody the Talking Tree. 
In August those attending will learn about the ABC’s and 123’s. Read aloud and explore together.

Friends of Shelter meeting Aug. 11
Friends of the Shelter, the organization that provides support for the Bluffton and Wells County Animal Shelter, will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11 in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 128 E. Market Street.
Items on the agenda include shelter operations and results from the Dog Wash Fundraiser.

Theater Thursday  slated Aug. 21
The Theater Thursday free movie for adults will be on Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Wells County Public Library. The movie shown  will be “Parental Guidance.”
The Bluffton Parks and Recreational Department, Wells County Public Library and Bluffton Regional Senior Circle have partnered together to offer a free monthly movie. 
There will be free snacks, 10 minute health info and prizes. For more informaion call 824-6069.

Family Garden Close-Up: Birds Aug. 23
On Saturday, Aug. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Botanical Conservatory will offer information on some of Indiana’s most common backyard birds.  Attendees will see see how many of these warm-blooded, egg-laying vertebrates they can find. Then students will make something special for them for their own backyard.  The event is free with regular Conservatory admission. Cost is $5 per adult, $3 per child age 3-17. Punt, Pass, Kick Aug. 23
The Bluffton Parks Department and Bluffton High School Football will host the Parks Department’s third annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Saturday, August 23 at 10 a.m at the Bluffton High School Football Stadium. 
This is a FREE competition open to boys and girls ages 6 to 15. Pre-register online at http://www.nflppk.com/competitions/register/index or sign up that day beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Frankenmuth Michigan Trip Aug. 26
The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion will sponsor an overnight trip to Frankenmuth Michigan for any senior age 55 and older Aug. 26 and 27. The cost is $120 per person with two people per room, or $95 per person with four people per room. The cost does not include meals. Payment will be due at the time of registration. 

Seniors will depart from the Wellness Pavilion on Tuesday, Aug. 26 and return on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Call 260-589-4469 for registration and information.
