Opportunity to be ‘Music Man’ show patrons
The Creative Arts Council of Wells County would like to invite you to become a Wells Community Theater patron for the coming performance of “The Music Man Jr.” As a patron, you will receive first choice of seats to one performance, as well as your name listed in the program for each performance.

Patron sponsorships are available for $25 per person. Performances will take place at the Life Center on Friday and Saturday, June 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 17, at 4 p.m. To become a patron contact Audrey Dean at the CAC at (260) 824-5222.

Montpelier citywide rummage June 2
Montpelier City-Wide Rummage Sales will be held Saturday, June 2. Site maps will be available at most businesses.

Wet Wacky Wednesday June 13
Wet Wacky Wednesday will be held June 13 and 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wells Community Pool. The pool will be open for evening family swim the second and fourth Wednesdays of summer months. Cost is $1 per person over age five.

Circus tickets available at more Bluffton sites
The Wells County Chamber of Commerce and 4-H Association are sponsoring the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to be held at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Wells County 4-H Park on Monday, May 28. Pre-sale tickets for the circus will be sold at Kroger, 1555 S. Harrison Plaza, on Tuesday, May 22 and at Wal-Mart, 2100 North Main in the morning on Friday, May 25.

Child pre-tickets (ages 2-12) are $6 each and adult pre-sale tickets are $9 each. The day of the shows child tickets (ages 2-12) will be $7 each and adult tickets will be $12 each.


Pool opens May 26
The Wells Community Pool will open Saturday, May 26. Weekend hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Weekdays hours are 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is adult $2.25, student $1.75 and five and under are free with a paid adult (limit three children per paid adult).

Tuesdays are $1 admissions for all ages. Pool phone is 824-1550, For information on renting the pool call 824-1773. Also, the Splash Pad is now on at Pickett’s Run.


Monroe Lions Club 5k Run/Walk June 2
The Monroe Lions Club will sponsor the ninth annual 5k Run/Walk Saturday, June 2 at 8:15 a.m. Pre-register by May 25 by calling 260-692-6819.

The race will begin at the Adams County 4-H Fairgrounds in Monroe and follow a flat, blacktop course through Monroe. There is a $15 pre-registration fee if received by May 25. There is an $18 registration fee if received after May 25 and on race day.

Divisions include: Boys and Girls 14 and younger and 15 to 18; Men and women ages 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40-49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and over.

Circus coming May 28
The Culpepper and Merriweather Circus will be in Bluffton Monday, May 28, at the Wells County 4-H Park. Show times are 2 and 4:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children.

They can be purchased at the following locations: Ossian State Bank, Tyeger's Pizza, Indiana Pancake House, Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, Wells County Chamber of Commerce, MarkleBank, Goodwin Memorial Chapel and Stylus Audio/Video Radio Shack.
Cost of tickets the day of the show are $12 for adults or $7 for children.

Psi Iota Xi offers scholarship
Psi Iota Xi will be offering a scholarship to a student majoring in the field of speech and hearing, music, or fine arts. Applicants must be entering either their junior or senior year of college in the 2013 fall semester.

Organ concert at Embassy May 13
“Puttin’ on the Ritz” will be the Buddy Nolan Tribute Concert to be presented at the FW Embassy Theatre on Sunday, May 13, at 2 p.m.

Featured at the Grande Page organ will be Mark Herman playing music by Irving Berlin. Special guests will be Michael Davis and Anthony Snitker. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and will be available at the Embassy Box Office or at Ticketmaster.

Poetry open mic night May 15
The Wells County Creative Arts Council will host a Poetry Open Mic Night on Tuesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Balentine Gallery of the Arts Commerce & Visitors Centre, 211 Water St., Bluffton. Doug Sundling will emcee. Poets are invited to come with their original poetry or listen, as poets and poetry lovers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. There is no admission charge. Womens Self Defense class May 19
Bluffton Parks Department is now accepting registration for a free women's self defense class. This event is for ladies over 15 and will be held May 19 in the Bluffton city gym from 9-11 a.m.
All participants will receive a self defense stick for their key chain and learn pressure point techniques. Call 824-6069 by the Friday before.

Seeking entries for Ventures in Creativity
The Fort Wayne Artists Guild and the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts are seeking entries for Ventures in Creativity 2012.

There is a $35 entry fee for three items for non-guild members. Entry forms for artists are available at Artlink, United Arts & Education and the FW Museum of Art and online at http://www.fortwayneartistsguild.org. Deadline for entry is June 16 with drop date of June 25. An opening reception will be held July 14, and the show will run from July 14 to Aug. 17 at the Rolland Center on the campus of the University of Saint Francis.

Pizza Hut Fundraiser May 7
On Monday, May 7, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Southern Wells FCCLA (Family, Community, Career Leaders of America) will be sponsor a fundraiser buffet at Bluffton Pizza Hut.

The group will get $1 for every buffet and all tips. Funds will help support Cassie Crickard, Allison Blevins and Emily Aker in their trip to the National Leadership Conference in July.

St. Aloysius Clothing and Toy Resale May 12
The third-annual St. Aloysius Clothing and Toy Resale will be held Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to noon in the school's activity center at 14607 Bluffton Rd. (Hwy. 1), Yoder.

Lots of children's items including clothing sizes infant to juniors, baby equipment, children's furniture, toys, games and accessories from many different sellers.

March of Dimes Walk May 12 in Bluffton
On Saturday, May 12, at Hardees in Bluffton, more than 200 community members from Adams and Wells counties will join together in support of all babies by participating in the March of Dimes - March for Babies.

Event registration will begin at 8 a.m. The walk will start at 9 a.m.

Foster and Adoptive Parents needed
SAFY Foster Care and Adoption Agency is seeking stable, committed families to provide safe homes for youth who have suffered maltreatment.

Homes are needed in the area. The greatest needs are for homes for teens and school-aged children, large sibling groups, and children with special needs. Training, support, and reimbursements are available to assist with the success of placements.

SW Church Craft and Bake Sale May 4
Southern Wells Community Church will sponsor a Craft and Bake Sale at the Wells County 4-H Park Quonset Building Friday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds will go to the building fund.

Community Plant Swap May 5
Herbs' Friends will host the 15th annual Community Plant Swap Saturday, May 5, from 7 to 11 a.m. at Riverside Center in Decatur located at 231 E. Monroe Street.

The annual event is open to the public as a way to sell or swap excess plants or to buy new plantings and cuttings. Doors will open at 6 a.m. for participants to set up their display of plants. Forks of Wabash Fish Fry May 5
The Forks of the Wabash Fish Fry will be held May 5. The all-you-can-eat event will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Forks of the Wabash Park, 3011 West Park Drive in Huntington.

Adult tickets will be $7.50 in advance or $8 at the door, and children ages 6 - 12 will be $5. There is no charge for children ages 5 and under. Carry outs will be available. Advance tickets may be purchased from any Forks of the Wabash board member, or by calling 260 356-1903.

All proceeds raised from this project will be matched by the Modern Woodsmen of America up to $2,500 and will be used for collection preservation and furnishing the Archive Room at the Historic Forks of the Wabash.

Pancake and Sausage Breakfast in Berne May 5
The South Adams Senior Center will sponsor a pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday, May 5, from 7 to 10 a.m. Free will donations will be accepted.

Profits to fund South Adams Senior Center.

The meal will include pancakes, sausage links, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice. Carry outs available.

All-you-can eat tenderloin Supper May 5
Members of Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene will sponsor an All-You-Can-Eat Tenderloin Supper Saturday, May 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the family life center located at 402 E. 1st Street, Warren.

Served will be Huggy Bear Tenderloins. Tickets will be available at the door. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages five through 12 and free for children under age 5. Carry-outs will be available.
