Optimist Club Tri Star Basketball Contest Jan. 28Wells County girls and boys ages 8 through 12 (before March 1) may participate in the Bluffton Optimist Tri-Star Basketball Contest Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Boys and Girls Club at 1410 S. Wayne Street, Bluffton.
Registration and warm up will begin at 10 a.m. The contest will start at 10:30 a.m.

Winterval at Science Central Jan. 28Science Central will participate in Winterval Saturday, Jan. 28, with half-price admission, liquid nitrogen ice cream, glacial gak and more.

Pancake & Sausage Brunch Jan. 29Hoagland Area Advancement Association will sponsor a pancake and sausage brunch Sunday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hoagland Pavilion.
The menu will include fresh whole hog sausage, all-you-can-eat pancakes and a drink. Cost is $6 for adults, $3.50 for children ages six through 12 and free for children age 5 and younger. Carry-outs and bulk fresh pork purchases will be available.

Family concert by The Phil & FW Ballet Jan. 29On Sunday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will present a Star Family Concert at Auer Perfomrnace Hall in Rhinehart Music Center on the campus of IPFW.
“Firebird: Princesses and Fairy Tales” will feature the Fort Wayne Ballet with David Ingram, as principal dancer and choreogrpaher for the concert. Christopher J. Murphy is director and narrator and directing the orchestra will be the Phil’s Assistant Conductor Sameer Patel.
A pre-concert Instrument Playground will begin at 1 p.m.
